Growing up I had severe acne and was on many prescriptions. I often wonder if these prescriptions have had lasting effects on me, includeing my gluten allergy that developed a few years ago. I was also diagnosed with PCOS in my teens although other doctors still question it as I only have a few symptoms. I was wondering if anyone has found a correlation between PCOS/severe acne with a non-vegan diet and if a vegan lifestyle has helped anyone with these symptoms. Thanks!

Hi Nicky,

This may sounds silly, but what does PCOS stand for? I would love to comment/help but want to fully understand first. Thanks! Much love

Hey Tali, PCOS is Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome.

Nicky, I was diangonosed with PCOS when I was 14. I had mild acne and my periods stopped when I turned 16. Almost 20 years later, I'm 34 now, I am back on track and getting my period naturally. I have lost 50 pnds since going vegan and it looks like i have beat my PCOS. I rarely get acne anymore, except right before I get my period. I have been getting my period since April of this year and went vegan in Febuary, I gave up Dairy in Oct '09. I not only feel better, I look better and am finally feeling like a "normal" woman!

I hope that helps you. :)

The modern, Western diet causes the metabolic syndrome called PCOS. The superhero plan is a great way to reverse this disorder. Check all the older threads that discuss this subject and go superhero, it really works quickly.

Thank you for your responses! I had bad acne growing up and was on a variety of medications too including Accutane. It was a few years later that I developed gluten allergies as well and I wonder if there is a link between those two as well. I have been trying to read what I can on this subject and I hope that a vegan diet can help me not only be healthier, but resolve some of my acne and PCOS issues.
