Brown Rice Fast

Day 1

Today is my first day of the Brown Rice Fast. I had a huge sugar binge a few days ago and have felt horrible since then. I have heard that this is a very centering fast that isn't to hard on your body because you are still eating, unlike the master cleanse, which sounds awesome but is just too intimidating for me at the moment. Anyway, I just finished dinner and and already a bit tired of brown rice. But I think that maybe it will help me to eat a little less, which I need to do anyway as I always eat WAY too much.

Since I am already a bit tired of brown rice, I think that I am going to need some encouragement. So any "keep going" or advice or from my experience comments would be much appreciated. <3

Hi girls,

What is the purpose of the brown rice fast? Is it for a specific thing like weight loss or is it more to just cleanse the body?

I've been vegan now for about three months and I feel like its the best decision I ever made for myself. Its not only changed my diet but also my mind, everything!

Day 2

Nicole: Thank you so much for your advice! I have been looking for The Hip Chicks Guide, but can't find it anywhere, I think I might just order it on amazon. I am definitely going to journal my experience, and I have always wanted to learn to meditate on my own, I have only been able to do it at the end of yoga sessions, so this will be a fun challenge!

Racquel: I am mostly doing this to just help clean out my system. I have been very stressed out lately and it has taken a toll of my eating habits, and I have heard that the brown rice fast is very centering, which is what I need in my life right now. I do want to lose some weight, but it is not the point of this fast, though I think that it will help lead to that. :)

So far day 2 is going great, I feel very light and clear, I think the hardest parts of my day will probably be at night when I have been eating only brown rice all day, but the mornings are amazing, and I am looking forward to all of the benefits that this experience will give me.

Thank you for the encouragement! It really does help!

Rogue: How long are you doing the rice fast? It looks like 5 days. I have been interested in trying this also. Would you mind elaborating on the details. For instance, do you have rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner? How about snacks in between...more rice? Do you use a variety of brown rice (long, short, medium grain)? I would also think there is no seasoning on the rice, correct?

It sounds like you are approaching the fast from a good place. I worry a little when I hear about people's intentions with fasting. Good for you. Keep it up!

@rogue- i bought some brown rice today after reading your post. not sure if i can make it the full 10 days, but even 1 day a week will help! i've been uber stressed lately and it definitely takes a toll on my eating habits.

Inner winds: I am doing the fast for 10 days. The basics to the fast: you eat only brown rice, they say that brown basmati rice is the best kind, but I have a lot of short grain brown rice, so that is what I am using. As for toppings, they are suppose to be kept to a minimum. It is preferable to have it plain, but I have been adding some gomashio and/or umeboshi plum paste. I have been eating only when I have been hungry. Also you are suppose to keep the amount of rice you eat to a minimum, 3-6 cups.

Crazy in love: That is so exciting, this makes me so happy! I have read other peoples experiences, and even a 1 day fast is helpful to your digestive system. I totally know what you mean about becoming stressed out and having it effect your eating habits. Stress effects my eating so easily. Sometimes it's nice to just take a break.

For me the full ten days, I think, are necessary. I have been overly stressed, and really fell off the wagon. I also have a very sensitive stomach so it needs some time to rest and reboot. Good luck on your journey! Even a day helps, after my first day I felt so much better, though I had some major detox symptoms.

Oh also, I have been drinking lots of kuchika tea and water.

I assume that means 3-6 cups of cooked rice :)

yes, 3-6 cups of cooked rice.

arg, the ends of the day are sooo irritating. I get so tired of brown rice by the end of the day. Looking forward to tomorrow though, the mornings are the best part of this cleanse! :)

I'm definitely interested in this fast, and will no doubt be trying it in the near future. Thanks for your feedback. Last question I promise! Did you choose to eliminate all other drinks besides tea and water?
