Seeking Support in Miami

I've been a vegan since I saw Alicia's interview on Oprah in January, but I finally got the chance to read the book and have been attempting to be superhero.

I've hit a lot of roadblocks however and even have been falling off the vegan bandwagon. I've been dealing with a lot of stress coupled with being surrounded by sugary baked goods and I just haven't been able to resist. I feel like I need a sponsor, like in AA, only this way, it would be anytime I was about to have anything non-superhero. Anyone interested in helping me, even for a bit? I feel like if I can truly make it a routine for at least 2 weeks it should be easier.

Thanks to all.

Hey Sam!! I hope you're still out there. I'm in Miami too and starting the superhero for health reasons. I've been a vegetarian for a little while now but I'm still getting sick and not losing weight (probably because of Cysts on my ovaries causing me to have PMS symptoms and eat like crazy). I have had it with being sick but the superhero seems so restrictive and need help!

I could support you in a "I'm in the battle with you" way but I am not the Superhero Vegan that I want to be yet- would love to have a small support group in Miami Too :)

Jessica,

Sorry to hear that you're sick. I've been having digestive issues for a while and have been tested for everything under the sun. I only recently figured out that it's an intolerance to yeast-- super lame but certainly not as difficult to deal with as cysts.

Once you start a routine and find things you like, superhero is actually really great...it's just very hard to stick to if you're super busy and aren't near a kitchen often. That's part of the reason i've struggled and haven't lost the weight I want to...it's just a lot easier to grab a cupcake that's set out than try to plan to bring dinner; working harder on that, planning ahead and such.

I've been doing a bit better. I did the crazy Master Cleanse a few weeks ago, and while I still tend to eat too much sugar while on my cycle, i've been much better about following the ratios and eating the right things.

Made a great miso soup for bruncht this morning with some vegan pancakes, and last night I packed a salad with lentils for tonight's dinner. Baby steps :-)
