Hi ladies... and men (tho I've yet to see one of those around here :)
Today I am 2 weeks meat free. I felt great up until 2 days ago when I began to get agonising stomach cramps. Really achy tummy, like I used to get as a child. The past 36 hrs I haven't been able to venture far from our house as I am running and running to the bathroom.
No-one else in my household is ill and weirdly I know that it's not an actual stomach bug. It feels different than that. Like my body is expelling something bad. I also have a raised rash, much like hives. Are these detox symptoms? If so I'd love to know what's going on in my body right now, purely out of interest.
It makes me so much more determined to carry on with my new kind life, because if this is what meat is doing on it's way out of my system, I'm horrified to think what it was doing while it was lying inside me :/
Are you eating a lot of soy products? I know I have those same symptoms if I have too much soy in my diet...the upset stomach, cramping and the rash (i get it on my face and chest mostly). Cut down on soy if you're eating a lot and see if that helps.
I'm eating a lot of meat substitute products like Quorn burgers/ mince. Altho I am using rice milk instead of soy (just a taste preference). I guess I'll stop relying on the meat subs so much once I become more confident with vegan recipes.
