I've read that too much soy is bad as it contains something similar to estrogen!!!
This has made me wonder how much is too much? If i'm having soy milk on cereal every day am i going to grow a set of man boobs :-/
Any helpful or funny answers gratefully recieved
Cheers John
LOL...from the title alone I knew I had to read this! I don't think you're in any risk of growing manboobs...but too much processed soy (like in soymilk and fake meats) isn't good for anybody. Maybe switch it up with some rice or almond milk every once and a while?
Cool, *cancels bra fitting* I've not tried either rice or almond milk so i'll have a look for them next time i go shopping.
It'll be nice to have something different as i think soy milk is making me a bit hayfevery anyway.
hhahahaha...moobs.
John, don't forget to give hemp milk a try! Its super creamy and I just love the stuff!
Lots of milk alternatives - you should try them all! Rice, almond, hemp, oat, hazelnut, coconut. Soy contains phytoestrogens, and too much processed soy isn't good for anyone, as Danielle mentioned. Some people are more sensitve to phytoestrogens than others, and they are found in other plants as well, but it's very unlikely you will grow moobs : ).
I just found Almond milk, and Chocolate Almond milk, and I love it above all the others!
Thanks for the replies! Will keep you all posted with how i get on :-)
Not much to add except I didnt grow moobs after lots of soy for a couple of years....I just stopped using so much because like Dani A says, I didnt want to have so much processed soy. Rice milk has a lot of carbs, so instead I routinely use unsweetened vanilla almond milk on my cereal, for example. Although my wife hates almond milk and loves soy.....just gotta try them and see what you like.
Hi John, I would be worried if you were drinking a lot of soy protein shakes or something like that after workouts. I think this problem comes from processed soy, like milk too I guess, but in large quantities. To be safe, I agree with the others that you should try other milks and faux meats. My husband is in medical school and about 3 weeks ago he saw a man that got moobs from too much soy--he was taking the protein. If this does happen, it is irreversible without surgery. So, I guess it would be best to find alternatives just so you don't get into this problem!
