Hi,
I'm a new member from Sligo in Ireland. I've been a vegetarian for about 10 months and I have to say that in that time I never slipped on eating meat but continued eating eggs and some dairy products occasionally.
I heard about The Kind Diet a few months ago but never really thought much about it. Then I started to see advertisements for it almost everywhere, magazines news papers and even on an episode of Oprah! So I said I have to see this for myself.
I started reading it and I was amazed at the amount of information it had (not just recipes like most other vegetarian cookbooks).
I can't put it down. I keep reading it and finding something new and more amazing than the last time I read it.
I am really going to work towards becoming vegan soon ( I have a meat eating husband who thinks I'm losing my marbles but I'll work on him haha)
Thanks Alicia for writing the book it's amazing, and I am looking forward to getting to know many vegetarians and vegans soon.

Are there many vegan restaurants/options in Ireland?

Thanks Claudine.

There are a few good vegetarian restaurants in Dublin but that's about 3 hours from where I live and Sligo isn't all that big so we have no proper vegetarian restaurant. Would really love it if there was though, it would make going out for dinner so much easier.

Are there many where you are?

In South Africa- not much, but i did find a place aboot 40min drive away. It is called Fresh Earth and sells all kinds of health foods, and has a coffee shop vegetarian and vegan cuisine.

I'm moving up to London again in Feb, and planning on travelling and Dublin is one of the first places I want to go to. My mom says its fab(I lived in Scotland for years, and i can imagine that Dublin is just as green:-)

Hi Sarah!

I live in Belfast. 3 weeks veggie after being an omnivore all my 31 years. I'm aiming to be vegan myself but options for eating out are limiting. I'm doing a lot more cooking and finding that's the only way to be sure what I'm really eating. xxx

Hi Arlene,

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I seem to have misplaced this page haha. How are you getting on becoming Vegan? I'm finding it very difficult at the minute, with christmas and new year this week finding something quick and vegan is really hard. I'm also the dessert baker for the family get togethers and if I attempted to make a vegan dessert for everyone I'd be disowned. lol!!! In saying that I'm doing my best but it's not always easy.

Such a small world, my brother lives in Belfast and has flirted with vegetarian and vegan so I'll ask him if he has any suggestions for you.

Merry Christmas

Sarah :)
