I was at the store last night (Whole Foods & Jewel which is a local large grocer) and I was having a hard time finding a peanut butter that is unsweetened AND unsalted. Any brand recommendations? Or do you use Almond Butter?

Also couldn't find it in a crunchy version for the Chocolate Peanut Butter cups.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Hi! I used Maranatha creamy peanut butter (got mine at WF but I've also seen it at many other places) - I don't REMEMBER it being salted or sugared - I agree, I hope it wasn't - LOL! :) It's getting a lot easier to find no sugar, but yes, no-salt can be hard to find.

Thanks, Karen! Yes, I did see "no sugar", but it was hard to find one that didn't include salt or sugar. I will def try again very soon and keep my eye out for Maranatha! Thanks much!

At whole foods they have their own ground up peanut butter, which is just peanuts. I think that is probably best. Jewel doesn't really carry anything that doesn't have sugar.

Thanks, Rogue : ) I will try another Whole Foods this week, it seemed some spaces were empty on their shelves and I probably didn't see that one!! Thanks !

Firefly - there are brands without sugar and salt - the365 brand has one, which is cheapest, but I've also found arrowhead mills and maranatha. I think what rogue's referring to are the ones you grind yourself. It's a grinder with nuts already in it and you turn it on and it's freshly ground. Unless you get a honey roasted, you know all that's in it is peanuts.

I have a hard time finding unsalted and unsweetened at my local big grocery stores (Jewel and Dominicks). I find the best stuff at my local Trader Joe's.

I also prefer to make the PB cups with creamy peanut butter but that's just me.

I use almond butter and it's the kind that you grind up at the store from whole almonds. Then I put the chocolate on and then I sprinkle chopped almonds over the top. DELISH!!!

Trader Joes has organic, unsweetened, unsalted peanut butter. It's delish!

I second Maranatha. Or in-store ground peanutbutter.
