I love my lifefactory bottle sooooooo much. I have even dropped it a couple of times, and its survived, thank goodness! It wasn't cheap but I would buy another in a heartbeat. I love that you can put it in the dishwasher (unlike a SIGG, the lining doesn't do well in the dishwasher), and that there's no taste or weird smell.
Definitely the lifefactory water bottle! Got mine at whole foods and take it with me everywhere. It's very easy to clean and keeps the water nice and cold. The sleeve can come off when you wash it, but you don't need to take it off. It's a great size also.
This may not be exactly what you're looking for but thought I'd post anyway, in case someone else finds it useful.
Around the house I keep water in used wine bottles. They can easily be cleaned and since we drink wine, it's something we already have at home (and of course can be recycled). They don't get any weird smells or anything. You can certainly put a cork in it and take it with you anywhere you need to go - a picnic, etc. I also take glass jars with me when I'm on the go for water, they don't leak and again, it's something I use at home. Glass containers probably aren't a great solution for athletes or cyclists, but it's great at home!
I carry both a BPA-free stainless steel bottle and a glass one, both from Celadon Road. The company carries all organic products, nearly all are Vegan Friendly (a few have sustainably harvested beeswax), and are completely chemical free!
I am a rep for this wonderful company and have no desire to make a return to a chemical filled life. To learn more about our company, visit www.celadonroad.com and visit www.myceladonroad.com/adenniston to learn about the wonderful products.
I love my cheeki drink bottle. I am not sure if Cheeki ship to the USA, but have a look, it is a stainless steel bottle. They also make baby bottles and are in the process of making stainless steel lunch boxes as well.
