I have recently learned about a great website that helps recycle product packages and other items into useful products. They are making a difference reducing the amount of trash that we produce and they are teaching people how to improve our impact on the world. Check it out at terracycle.net . You can follow them on Twitter and Facebook.
They donate the money from the products you send them to any charity of your choice.
Another is etsy.com. Many items on Etsy are repurposed. There are many reclaimed, upcycled, and salvaged items. Another great point, you're supporting the small business owners and artists.
