Thanks for all that info...I'm confused though, because since being diagnosed, I've been told to basically avoid soy like the plague. I eat mostly soy-free, but will have a soy product like tempeh or gardein or even edamame maybe once or twice a month, but the list you have says that tofu and tempeh are good?? Just wondering where this information came from, because every doctor, naturopath, acupuncturist, and medical book I have researched has said the opposite of what was posted. I'd like to look into it if you can remember where you got that list...

@Dani- I do need to specify on that. I made the list for my own personal use and then pasted it so i did not specify that soy HAS to be whole, unprocessed or fermented. ONLY tempeh, miso, edamae and live sprouted tofu ( which is what I buy It's called SprouTofu) qualify. ABSOLUTELY no processed soy AT ALL!!!!

I am pasting a link for a video that mentions these and also has LOTS of good info.

Where did you find the info though, that soy is okay? The soy that I eat is unprocessed (with occasional Gardein, but that only happens every couple of months) like tempeh and edamame, but all research and medical professionals have told me it's a no-no. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just interested in seeing the specifice studies that show that thyroid and adrenal issues are not affected by unproccessed soy...

I'm listening to the video, but I can't find anything online about this lady's credentials or her sources...

I did find it in my reading too but honestly that was just a google search and i didn't keep any sources. This was the only place I knew to direct you that I knew said it.

As a note- The adrenal glands produce hormones in your body and are very important to hormonal balance.

Okay. Like I said, I wasn't trying to bash your research, I was just confused because every single thing I have been told/researched has said otherwise about any soy at all, processed, unprocessed, organic, or G.E. That's all I was wondering about. Those are some good lists though :-)

I googled her name and found out she is a board certified clinical nutritionist and has CCN, CHLC and CWC behind her name. I am not sure what they mean but truthfully the title is good enough for me.

Yeah, I found those certifications as well, but working in a hospital with *pardon my french* Idiots who hold those same titles makes them ambiguous to me. I just am very skeptikal and don't believe anything that comes from someone unless they have studies, data and other resources backed to their name, that's all...

It is totally up to everyone whether or not they include soy in their diet. If it works better for you not to then I wouldn't. There could be allergy issues also since most people are allergic. For now I am still including edamame, miso, tempeh and SprouTofu in my diet. But really I only eat any of those maybe once or twice a week. Everyone has to take charge of their own health and make the decisions they feel are best for them.
