LOL...I've just become a skeptic after working in the medical field now, that's all ;-)
I miss munching on edamame so much, but it really does have a negative effect on my adrenals and thyroid.
I know some people and some studies conducted talk about gluten-free as well...I have tried, but never noticed any difference with that, but I know people who have had huge success going GF...
Actually i am totally gluten free. I started about 6 months ago when i started the blood type diet. I am a self appointed activist for Blood Type O vegans - LOL.

I googled the following quote
"the protien makeup of soy is particularly hard to digest and assimilate. It is high in phytic acid, which prevents our bodies form absorbing essential minerals such as calcium and iron. Soybeans also contain goitrogens, which interfere with thyroid function by suppressing the body's use of iodine. It is, however, widely believed that slow cooking and fermenting soy neurtalizes its high acid levels, allowing us to access its health benefits with less concern over its health risks. Therefore, when it comes to managing soy intake, you can eliminate many of these concerns by sticking with organic, fermented or slowly cooked soy products prepared with kombu and consumed in medicinal quantiites based on your unique constitution."
It appears to come from a meat and raw dairy advocacy organization Weston Price, use caution when relying on sources such as this.
I work in the Children's Hospital in the Cardiothoracic Surgery unit. I am not a doctor or nurse, but work with them as well as nutritionists, dieticians, MA's, and surgeons on a daily basis, so my questions are generally answered by them.

"The truth is that cholesterol is your best friend"
" Beef producers need to recognize that the fat is the most important part of the beef, rich in components that promote good health and that help you utilize the nutrients in all the other parts of the beef."
The Weston Price Foundation are a bunch of wackjobs, in my humble opinion ;-)
I've been looking at some info online and a few sources are saying that it takes several years to recover. Very disheartening.
