I am slowly trying to change my cookware so as to be beneficial to my health and the environment. I use a great cast iron skillet (good size), but the rest of my skillets and pans need to be replaced soon. Can anyone recommend good cookware?

I'm so glad I saw your post! I've always had hand-me-down pots and pans and they were starting to get old and chipped and I was afraid of the teflon coating getting in my food. So for Christmas I asked for a brand new eco-friendly cookware set. I ended up getting the Cuisinart GreenWare Eco-friendly 10 pc. cookware set. It has a "ceramica" non-stick coating instead of the teflon coating. The handles are made of recycled steel and the pots and pans are supposed to heat up quicker than others.

I only just started using them, but so far it works pretty well. I did a lot of research before I asked for this specific set and this was the best one for the price (about $150-$190). You can get it at Bed, bath, and beyond or on Amazon.com.

Good luck finding a great set!

Hi Anne!

Thank you for the information as I have been pricing sets lately. I will check into the set you mentioned. I am also checking Craigslist for used cookware that is stainless steel or cast iron. I just recycled ALL my plastic storage containers and bought glass. I am so excited about updating my kitchen accessories (little by little!). Thanks again!

Hi Billi,

I work for a company called MightyNest and we just added a Kitchenware line to our website. We had a hard time finding products that were safe and non-toxic but have come up with a great selection (of course, I'm a bit biased but I am really excited about our offerings).

We also created a tip sheet to try and help people shopping for new cookware and bakeware. Here's a link if you're interested: http://mightynest.com/learn/make-your-nest-mighty/for-your-home/12-ways-to-avoid-toxins-in-the-kitchen .

Good luck with your research/shopping!
