I've been wondering about this for a little while and have not found much written about this from a plant-based diet perspective. Even though vegans eat only a plant based diet, what about the fertilizer that is used in the process of growing our food? As I understand, even organic farmers can use animal manure within specific limitations to limit antibiotics and pesticides, etc. Where can I go to find more information on this?

Hi Kacie. I have been researching this topic too and not actually come up with much!

I have started growing my own vegetables and am using the purest, organic potting mix etc that I can find. I also compost so use my own mulch for the garden and veggies.

I was pretty mortified the other day after being given some of a friend's veggies only to be told that they had used blood and bone mix on their soil!!!

It is a nightmare trying to find all of this out...I will persevere and let you know what I find out. :)
