Hello everyone! I just began reading Alicia's book and I am loving it! I am going to slowly make some changes and eventually hope to get to the totally vegan point. My only concern is, being a runner, getting ENOUGH calories to help me prepare & recover from my 13-18 mile runs. Is this type of diet ideal for a long distance runner?

Hi! It is absolutely possible to be a long distance runner and a vegan. Google Brendan Brazier, Alicia mentions him in the book. And google his book Thrive. He is a triathlete and the entire diet is based on optimal recovery.

Emma,

Welcome! I am a marathon runner! You totally can do this. I eat a plant based diet (vegan) and my times have actually improved. Also, just to give you more proof my close friend is a Cardiologist is a vegan and she is an Ironman!!! She totally rocks. You should also check out Rich Roll. He is amazing. One of his articles is on my blog. I think you will find it fascinating and very helpful. www.theplantrx.com

Best Wishes and Kindest Regards, Jenna
