Hi everyone!

I have been vegan for about 2 months now. Before that, I had mainly been eating vegetarian since my boyfriend of 4 years is vegetarian. I am now vegan (but he didnt switch over with me). I have surprisingly not had so many issues with it - the only time I'm tempted to have anything non-vegan is when I smell pizza (which can be hard since I live in NYC and there are pizza places on every block!)

Anyway I've been cooking up a storm and trying to cook tons of fresh veggies and whole grains. I've even started my own blog - www.brooklynnatural.blogspot.com. I'm really excited about it and I hope you all will check it out! I even have my non-vegan friends following me!

I'm excited to get involved in some of these forums and share lots of great information!

Welcome, Lauren-

It's great to have you. I think you will love this forum. Alicia has done a fantastic job with the entire site and the forum is no exception. I used to live in NYC so I feel for you with respect to the pizza. =) I wasn't vegan when I lived there, which is probably a good thing. lol I haven't been back in a few years. Are there a lot of vegan places to eat there now? I miss the city but I don't miss the winters. I'll definitely check out your blog. Always like to see what fellow bloggers are up to. Feel free to check mine out. I'm a physician who advocates a plant-based (vegan) diet so mine is much more "medical" in nature. :) Best Wishes and Kindest Regards, Jenna (www.theplantrx.com)

Lauren, you should have tons of fabulous options in NY! I don't live there, but I know there are so many vegan options from other sources. You should be able to find vegan pizza there. If not, you can always make it at home with Daiya! I also love pizza more now without cheese, only sauce and veggies. Just make sure the crust is vegan. Good luck with the vegan cooking!

Thanks for the responses, everyone! Yes I am very lucky to live in NYC - there are so many vegan options at restaurants, I dont have a hard time finding stuff to eat. Plus, any time I go for ethic food at all (middle eastern, asian, mexican), it is very easy to find vegan options!

I have made vegan pizza with daiya a few times and its fabulous - definitely a life saver! I just bought the cheddar flavor of daiya for the first time but haven't used it yet. I'm sure I will soon!

Very excited to become an active member in this forum! Here's to sharing lots of good information :)
