Hi Alicia - I've been meaning to write to you, but have never thought I could muster the proper words of gratitude to you...so I'll just start spilling it ;) And I wish I could put this message in ALL CAPS as that is how passionate I am about our new lifestyle that you have introduced to us My husband and I were visiting his parents in FL last March 2010, and the weather was terrible... So we were stuck in their condo watching TV - and came across Oprah - with special guest Alicia Silvertone!! Well, being animal lovers and environmentalists, we were captivated with your interview, and by the end, couldn't wait to get online and order your book. I think I read it 3 times in a row right when I got it, and was instantly transformed. When I gave it to my husband to read, I asked him to have an open mind - as he loved eating meat - but he was instantly transformed too! And since April 2010, we haven't had any meat! SO many things have come from that...I have heriditarily high cholesterol and for the 1st time EVER, it has dropped below 200 - amazing!! We feel more energized, and love trying new recipes - because we're FOODIES too! We LOVE to cook and go out to nice restaurants. The recipes in your book are awesome- one of our ALL TIME faves is the radicchio truffle pizza - YUMMMM!!! We volunteer at a local dog shelter as well as the "Green" organization in our town, so this new lifestyle fits us perfectly. Our choice to RECOGNIZE the horror the animals have to endure, instead of IGNORE it like we've been doing is truly an epiphany for us - and we have YOU to thank. I told my husband that he is my male soulmate and you are my female soulmate - with your love of dogs/animals, respect for the environment, and your great sense of humor about it all - I couldn't be more in line with everything you say and would love to meet you someday. So my huband Bob, our dog Abby and myself want to thank you for the Kind Life we now lead and join with you and everyone in this new community to continue to rock on!!
