Hi everyone!

My name's Evelina, I'm 30 and live in Tuscany, a very beautiful region in the centre of Italy. I become vegetarian eight years ago, because it was something I had felt like to for ages, I didn't want to eat animals anymore. I went vegan in April 2009, because after all it was the right thing to do. As a vegetarian I was relying very much on cheese, which wasn't good for my health and for the animals too. When I found out about rennet, it was enough. I went vegan almost suddenly and I wasn't exactly ready. But then I started to read many books about veganism, bought several cookbooks, started to browse vegan websites and so on, and discovered the wonderland of a vegan lifestyle. Now, I can't believe I haven't been vegan for all my life! It's just feels like a right and natural part of me. As a vegan, I've learned to cook (I live in a non-vegan household) and to enjoy cooking, planning my meals, trying recipes and changing them, I've discovered new ingredients etc. but I have also learnt to read every label and to really know what I use, and not only in the kitchen, which is a far more responsible and conscious way to be a consumer. And I have now a much more holistic approach to everything. Becoming vegan has given me a new point of view on the world... it really changed my life! As said, I've read many vegan books recently and one of these - thanks to amazon and their suggestions related to my shopping and browsing trends - was The Kind Diet, that I really like. I started visiting the blog everyday- and I always find it useful, enjoyable and full on information - so I thought I'd have liked to join the community... and here I am! Last but not least, I also want to thank Alicia for being a so wonderful role model, for the book and this website and for sharing so much, and for standing for animal rights in her job too.

Hi Evelina! Welcome:) My son got to go to Italy last year. He stayed near Naples. The highlight was the food and the people. He met a whole bunch of folks who share our faith and they took very good care of him. We are from NY so it was a real treat.
