Many of ya'll already know about the Plant-based Health Study we are doing here in Los Angeles as we have been planning and working on it for some time now. The good news I would like to share is that it officially kicked-off on Saturday Jan. 15th.

Our participants have all of their baseline labs completed and their blood work results are listed on the site. Also, the participants have started to blog as well and will be doing so throughout the entire 60 days.

For those of you who are new to the forums or new to veganism in general I should probably explain a little better. I am a physician who advocates a plant-based diet. I am currently conducting a study in which the participants switch from either a Standard American Diet (SAD) or a Vegetarian diet to a Vegan Diet for 60 days. We are measuring the (both quantitatively and qualitatively) health benefits of such a diet.

In order to do so, I have done baseline lab work on the participants prior to the study starting. We are measuring parameters such as: lipid profiles, bmi, glucose, hemoglobin A1Cs, etc. In some cases we will use a carotid ultrasound. We will do these tests again at the 30 day mark(the study midpoint) and at the 60 day mark (the study endpoint). We will then analyze and compare the results.

Additionally, the participants will be blogging about their experience throughout the entire 60 days. Please stop by and support them I know that will greatly appreciate it.

I also teach about Plant based diets. Please send me the results from your study when it is completed or let me know if you need any help with writing up the results. I am glad to see more data to show everyone the multiple health benefits of vegan diets. Keep up the good work. Its hard to find fellow doctors who know anything about nutrition and diet.

I'm so happy to see that other people are as excited as I am!!! Thank you so very, very much for your support. =)

Sunil-

I would love to do that. I couldn't agree with you more and it's very unfortunate and frustrating!

Where are you located? If you get a minute, shoot me an email (on my site) so I will have yours. Thanks for saying hello (I can't tell you how reassuring it is to know there are others out there like me!) Jenn

This is absolutely delightful to hear! Please keep us posted on the progress of this study and, if it is not against any guidelines, post the results for us to see.
