hi jenna - good luck on the study! it's all very exciting - congratulations on getting it together!
I am curious as to the parameters of the diet - is it just that the participants eat anything they want as long as it is plant based? there are so many unhealthy processed foods out there that are indeed vegan, so one would think that the person who heavily based their diet on those foods would have a different outcome then the person who perhaps was eating just veggies/grains/beans etc.....sugar, caffine, additives, preservatives etc.... all of these have such a negative impact on our health and could greatly skew results - how is "plant based diet" defined in your study, or are the people allowed to do as they will?
Hello! Yes. I'm very "green" (pun intended...sort of!) to this lifestyle...NOT DIET. Or should I say DIE-IT?! ;-0
This site has made me want to LIVE...not just SURVIVE. I've been ill most of my 40 years. Chronic pain, fibromyalgia, shingles, mono, low thyroid, HIGH thyroid (!), addictions, alcoholism, ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometriosis...taken every darned pharmaceutical drug there is...NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! :-) :-) :-)
I'm not fearful nor am I embarrassed to write this for all to see. It's actually LIBERATING. Freeing. I'M FOLLOWING THIS THREAD! VERY EXCITING STUFF! THANK YOU FOR YOU...& THIS SITE!

I am so happy to hear you are doing this! What a wonderful study to support the healthfulness of being vegan!! :)
Jenna, way to go! I am so excited that you're doing this. I am a Type II diabetic who went vegan and, as a result, got my HbA1c from 14 (!!!!!) to 5.4, so I have personally had my health change dramatically as a result of a plant-based diet. Kudos to you for helping others!
Danyel - Let me know If I can help you with your project as I would be happy to!
Ann Ann - I agree with you that just because a diet is plant-based doesn't mean it's healthy. As you mentioned - refined foods, processed foods, fried foods, etc. But for the purposes of this experiment the only requirements are no meat and no dairy. The reason for doing so is that I wanted to show that even if your diet isn't the greatest as long as you don't include meat and dairy you will have a better lipid profile thereby reducing your risk of getting heart disease or having a stroke (Not to mention diabetes and potential cancers)
April- Thank you! I admire your courage and there are only good things to come!
Anastasia - AMAZING Story! That is beyond impressive. You are amazing because you did it! YOu are truly an inspiration. Great job! Super impressive!
Thanks everyone else for the well wishes. Please stop by the site and if you have a few moments please comment on the participants individual pages. The support and encouragement are super helpful!
I would love that! I will keep in touch.
This study is so important and exiting! I also look forward to hearing about the results! Please let us know if any articles will be written on the study!
Good luck with your study! I look forward to reading about it! :)
