I wonder if there's anybody on here from the uk... more specifically Wales. We're a little bit behind america when it comes to be vegan, so any hotspots, tips or event info would be great!
Not in Wales yet, but certainly hope to be, no, WILL BE by the end of the year. We are heading Swansea way WHEN all goes to plan.
I am a bit hit and miss on the vegan/plant based diet thing. I am probably still flirting really. I will get there though.

I'm moving to Bristol next month from New York and I'm definitly worried about continuing my diet and current lifestyle in terms of organics and the products I just now. I started a discussion for Bristol-UK if you know anyone there!
I used to live in Wales and found that M&S had some wonderful vegan foods. They are not necessarily labelled as vegan, but some of their vegetarian foods (labelled with a 'V') are actually egg-free and dairy-free as well. They have great salads - the Quinoa Superfood Salad is lush - and they do a giant veggie samosa which is delicious too.
The other brand, which I found at Waitrose, but is available elsewhere is Innocent. They are best known for their smoothies, but they also do veg pots which are bursting with flavour and nutrition: http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/things_we_make/vegpots/ Eating vegan in restaurants in Wales is trickier, but I'm sure it can be done. I rarely ate out but found the above options worked for me instead of traditional restaurant takeaways.
For a great vegan treat, try these little beauties, which are actually made in Wales and can be found in good supermarkets/health food stores: http://www.naturalbalancefoods.co.uk/store/nakd-nudie-bars/default.aspx.
If you're like me and love chocolate, you must try Montezuma's, who offer plenty of amazing vegan delights: http://www.montezumas.co.uk/. Some grocery, health food and specialty shops stock some of their range, but for the best selection, buy online.
Happy eating!
Hi, I'm in Cwmbran, Torfaen (formerly Gwent). I've been vegan-curious for a long time and I've just got Alicia's book and decided to go for it properly.
I think it's going to be fairly easy for me (hopefully not famous last words!!!!) because I already enjoy eating beans, lentils, whole grains, etc, EXCEPT for when I need to eat outside and have to tell people about it. (I already get thought of as slightly crazy for avoiding wheat - one thing I noticed in Alicia's book is that she said she was able to start eating whole wheat after a couple of months on this diet, I'm hoping the same will be true for me.)
