hello!
jaime and jennifer- i'm neighbors with you guys since i'm in bensalem. it is hard to find other vegs in this area it seems, and it would be nice to meet others. there are probably hidden gems that we could uncover if we shared.

Getting together for a little vegan/vegetarian support group sounds wonderful. I've found a few great vegan/veg restaurants in the area. My current favorite is The Memphis Tap Room in Fishtown, right off the Girard exit of 95. They have a smoked coconut club that's amazing and all vegan. I also found a website, vegkitchen.com, which has some really good, easy recipes. I wasn't much of a cook before, but now I'm forced to be. I'm not quite a super hero yet, but I'm trying to be. Anyone who works in Center City, Freshii is opening tomorrow in the Ritz across from City Hall and is having food giveaways for breakfast and lunch.
Hello all!
I live in the Audubon/Norristown area, not far from Chesnut Hill either!! I am new to being vegan. I have been vegetarian for over 10 years though! I would LOVE to get together for a meetup. I just heard about the Memphis Taproom and cannot wait to checkout their Smoked coconut club!!!
I'm from Phoenixville and I'm so happy there are so many fellow vegans close by!...I went vegan a little over a year ago and never looked back (and never had the urge to either!)
You probably all know this but if you don't... and you are in Philly head to South and Broad and get some Govinda's to Go and Sweet Freedom Bakery...my two fav's vegan stops that I have to tell everyone about! :)
I'm a flirt (I also say mostly vegan to those that don't know this book) in South Philadelphia -- a great place to be a veg/vegan much to everyone's surprise.
Govinda's is great! It's one of my favorite lunch spots in center city. I found a lot of restaurants using a phone app on android that locates vegan eateries by gps. Just search vegan restaurants, and it pops up. I'm sure it's available on iPhones as well.
Those in the Northeast suburbs, where's your favorite food shopping location? I've been using Wegmans, but I'd love more places to try.
Hi everyone! I live in Audubon, PA, which is right next to Valley Forge Park about 15 miles west of Philadelphia. I would love some advice on going "fully vegan". I consider myself a vegetarian and not vegan because I seem to have a very hard time giving up cheese, it's mt weakness. Pleas let me know some cheese alternatives and those richest in flavor, rich, sharp cheeses are my favorite and I would love to know some alternatives.
For those not in the city who are looking for a Farmer's market.....the Upper Merion Township (on Henderson Rd in KOP) Building has a pretty nice Farmers Market every Saturday that runs spring - fall. Also, one in Phoenixville, which a friend told me is incredible, though I have never been. I look forward to some help and advice from everyone, thanks!!

Hi Marissa... Lorraine here.. I posted just a few comments above you :) Cheese seemed to be the hardest to give up. I watched "Food Inc" and honestly it was all I needed to give up all animal products. I think it has info we all need regarding where our food really comes from. There aren't too many vegetarian/vegan cheeses that don't contain the milk protein casein but Daiya cheese is pure vegan and it MELTS... yay! There is some information out there as to why cheese is so difficult and addictive. Maybe if you knew why it would help you resist...:) Also there are ways to "trick" yourself into thinking you're eating cheese with nutritional yeast... there are a ton of recipes out there for cheese sauces using this...anywho.... Good luck!

I too had a hard time giving up cheese. I just ask you to give it up for one week and listen to your body for that week. Honestly after I realized how tired and bloated I felt, I was off it for good. Now that is not too say that I still don't get tempted by Pizza, my favorite food of all time... but now we have jules pizza !!!! they use a yummy cheese subsititute that some Whole foods have, but I like thier pizza its yummy!
Emily and Lorraine - thanks for the advice. I am 2 days in with absolutely no dairy/cheese so if I can hold off a few more days, I will feel I made it past my threshold and can keep going. I will definitely try the Daiya cheese when I do my Whole Foods run this weekend. Thanks for the tips ladies and maybe all I need is to finally watch "Food Inc" to ween me off cheese for good......
