I'm a vegetarian trying to make the transition to vegan. The Kind Diet, supported by this website, has been tremendously helpful. I'm looking for any kind-lifers nearby who would like to get together once in a while to share ideas, recipes, tips on grocery shopping, restaurants, etc. Maybe we could have a monthly potluck? Suggestions? Let me know if you're interested...

Hey Esme, just popping in to offer encouragement! I grew up in Saskatoon and have lots of friends in Calgary and Edmonton. I don't know if you have lots of options there (restaurant and grocery-wise) but the more you ask for items in your local store (and get others to ask as well) the more likely they'll bring them in for you. Just be sure to then support that store and buy those items there! If you aren't sure what to try when switching over to vegan products, I would be more than happy to suggest some things for you to try. Some vegan (most, actually) foods are great...and some are just foul! LOL! I've tried a bunch of products so I may be able to at least give you some feedback. :)

Hi Esme!

I have been a vegan in Calgary now for close to a year, so I'm definitely still learning. But I'd be more the happy to share anything you'd like to know!

Hi! I'm here too and I know there's at least a couple of others. I think a Kind-Lifer get together might be fun at some point! I've been completely vegetarian for about a year now and am also slowly transitioning to vegan.:)

Hey! I'm another cowtown-veggie! I've been meat-free since August and am flirting with going vegan ... just can't give up cheese!

So glad to hear that I'm not alone! And it sounds like a few of you are in the same boat as me, i.e. veggie trying to go vegan. I find that I'm pretty good at home where I can prepare my own food, but if I forget to bring my lunch to work then I'm in big trouble! There is so little vegan food to choose from in the mainstream....

Anyway, is anyone up for a 'meet & greet' lunch at a vegetarian/vegan restaurant, maybe in early March? Suggestions?

Hey! So glad to here about fellow Calgarian Kind-lifers. I have been vegan for almost a year now...have any of you tried "The Coup" on 17th ave? They are a vegetarian restaurant with some fantastic vegan options. I highly recommend trying it.

The Coup / Meet are both amazing! I even have tons of omni-friends who love the food there!

Esme - unless it's on a weekend lunches aren't so great for me since I work outside the core. I could swing after work or on a weekend though.
