Hello, I am in Wilmington. I am not a vegan yet but my journey will launch Monday. I was very disappointed today. I went to Fresh Market to get some food but their selection was minimal. Where do other Wilmington vegans buy groceries in the area?

Jean, I keep my menu pretty simple but Lovey's Market is where I look for items that I can't find in the grocery store. If you are just beginning, I suggest starting with a simple diet of veggies, grains, nuts, and fruits and slowly add new recipes such as from TKD so as not to get too overwhelmed. Good luck and let me know if your looking for something in particular and I can keep my eyes open for it around town as well.

Thanks KC. I have never heard of Loveys before but I just googled it and it looks awesome. Thank you so much!! I am trying to start out slow and over the last week I increased my fruit and vegetable intake. I am also a creature of habit so once I find something I really like, I could eat it everyday. Lunches are what I am having trouble with. I tried a vegan version of Mama Fu's Lettuce wraps and mine are definitely not as good. I used to eat a ham or turkey sandwich everyday for lunch and when I couldnt find any vegan cheese I was a little upset, but at the same time I dont want to keep eating overly processed foods. I guess I will find a happy median. Thank you for your help and listening to what I had to say!!

I'm in Durham and am currently giving the vegan life-style a try. Well, I am reading up on it and wanting to get myself and my family on board with the veggie way of life. I am thrilled to see other Kind Lifer's here in NC! I can't wait to try some of the restaurants that you have all mentioned! We really should do a potluck or get together, because I really would like to learn how to cook vegan. I am struggling with this.

Had a wonderful meal at Butternut Squash in Chapel Hill for Mother's Day.

KC--Haven't been yet, but there is a Tidal Creek Co-op on Oleander Dr in Wilmington.

Hey NC friends! I'm in the Charlotte area, anyone else close by? I've been a vegetarian for almost three years but have been contemplating making the step toward veganism. Would love some advice.

Hey Paula, If you're already a vegetarian, you're half-way there! Just like someone else mentioned here, it's easy to start out with a diet of veggies & grains, and then add one new recipe at a time. Have you read TKD yet? It is full of great recipes. There are also some good one on this site. The most important thing is, take one day at a time. Don't give up if you fall off the wagon. Just get back on again. Good luck!

Hi my name is Natalie and I live in the Greensboro area. I would be interested in meeting others who are applying the kind diet. I have had the book for sometime now, just now getting around to reading it. I am in the process of becoming a pescatarian. I hope to meet others who are adopting this similar lifestyle in the area.
