Hello St. Louisans!!

I'm from there originally. Born and raised, but I'm in Seattle, WA for school right now. The vegan options are slendor there, but there are some. Shangri-la is really good and has lots of option Katherine. I love the Vegan Gyro! Local Harvest is good. Govinda's on Lindell, right before Grand is a good cheap vegan buffet place. Rasoi in CWE is great Indian cuisine... I usually go for brunch which is buffet style.

My #1 spot in STL, is Audi-K's hot dog place in CWE. It's on Euclid between the Schafly Branch Library and the Coffee Cartel's, they have veggie dogs that are absolutely to DIE FOR!! I miss them here in Seattle!!

I live in St. Louis... Fenton, actually! I have been to Vegadeli, it is wonderful! Where is Local Harvest Cafe? I have not heard of it, but am always looking for new places to try.

@Tina - Local Harvest (both the cafe and the grocery store) are on Morgan Ford, in the South Tower Grove neighborhood. It is definitely worth a visit.

@Erica - I totally understand about having a cupcake weakness. They are so good though and it's nice to know they are cruelty free.

Hi there! I'm KINDA St. Louis...Collinsville, IL, actually! I've not been to any of the places listed, though. I got a Groupon or Sauce coupon for Cafe Natasha recently but I haven't been yet. I'm a huge fan of Trader Joe's and I wish we had one on this side of the river. I've also wanted to go to brunch at MoKaBe's. Apparently it's vegetarian, with many vegan options...anyone tried it?

Well, just wanted to update. I've been to Sweet Art and Local Harvest since my last post. Local Harvest was just okay for me. I got a veggie sandwich and billy goat chips (of course).

Sweet Art might be my new reason for living! It is out of this world amazing. My bf and I went there one day for cupcakes, but also got food (he's not a veggie, but got a mushroom sandwich thing with cheesy, so still vegetarian). I got a vegan burger. As each of us took our first bites, we let out a groan of happiness. The food was amazing...and then cupcake time...wow!! Sooo amazing. I like that EVERYTHING on their menu can be made vegan, but there are other options too. This weekend we are going back for their breakfast. It looks amazing as well.

Thanks for all the yummy suggestions. Can't wait to try more :)

This was in an email I got from Yelp today:

Rhonda S may be convinced the grass is greener on the other side after taking a chance on the raw vegan tacos at VegaDeli: "Oh, sweet mother of the earth, they were good." Continuing to prove that faux is fab, Sarah F nibbles on the veggie sausage flatbread with sun-dried tomato, provolone, and chili flakes at Terrene; it's sauteed with herbs that make it "zesty and satisfying." Admiring the veg lifestyle, you can find Jimmy H at Local Harvest Café gushing, the Harv' "gives me hope that maybe one day I too will be a healthy eater." And if the bowl had been big enough, Erika W would have "jumped into her matar paneer" at Everest Café. "Holy crap, people - that matar paneer is to die for!"

"Really, who needs forks?" Not Britta T at Meskerem Ethiopian Restaurant; she declares, "Seriously, roll up your sleeves, and if you have issues with getting stuff on your hands, get over it" and you will be rewarded with "so much deliciousnes." Likeswise, skip the same old sandwich route with a trip to The Vine, where Zach X advises us to "work it so you end up with a grip of the pita rounds and an assortment of fillings," like Lebanese hummus, lebneh, and baba ganoush. Meanwhile, Sarah S attacks a housemade veggie burger made with magic and love and topped with "vegan spread" at Sweet Art. While the vegan pulled pork sandwich seems to be a crowd favorite, Jessica Y makes note of the mouthwatering meatless meatloaf at quirky Shangri La Diner. She excitedly calls this joint "a vegetarian diner that even serious carnivores can appreciate" and can't get enough of the crème brûlée French toast, either! Likewise, John D is head over heels for the "awesomeness" known as Sunday brunch at MoKaBe's. We can see why, with toothsome all-you-can-eat options like veggie bisuits and gravy, vegan brioche French toast, and hearty tofu scrambles. Seeing green yet!?

Hey there STL Kind Lifers!

Just wondering if anyone might be interested in putting together a bake sale locally as part of the Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale?

Hello St. Louis! I will be traveling to your fine city this June and was looking for some assistance for vegan/vegetarian/gluten free restaurants in the area. I am staying at the Luminere and will be going to the convention center daily. Everything will need to be within walking distance, please. Any help &/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Lately, I've been doing alot of smoothies and salads.... Thanks so much!
