i know this is a long shot but it would be so wonderful to meet some people with the same values as my husband and i in the Lawrenceburg area. i've found this area is very close minded about our veg*n lifestyle. Love to meet some new and interesting people!!

Ashley, I am not in Lawrenceburg but I am in Greenwood, Indiana. It is hard living this lifestyle in Indiana, there is not a lot of support. I'd love to chat with you sometime.

Hi, I am around Indianapolis (north side) and just really starting. We have been flirting for a while and ready to move forward. I would love to hear from anyone in the area that can give us advice.
hi! nice to meet you both! i was really surprised when anyone responded to this post. : ) you both are in the Indianapolis area about 3 hours from where i live but i'm sure you are finding alot of the same issues as me. people do have a difficult time in this area thinking you're not nuts when you say you don't eat meat/dairy etc. i just stopped talking about it.
Hi, my husband and I have been vegetarians a little over a year now and just started the process of "veganhood". We are in the Bloomington area and seem to be fortunate as there are lots of vegetarian/vegan resources here (Bloomingfoods, farmer's market, restaurants, etc). It has been a wonderful journey for us so far and we dont plan to return to eating meat/dairy. We look forward to any support and maybe some recipes, etc, to share :) Nice to meet you all!
Hi guys - my mom grew up in Aurora, next to Lawrenceburg, and my grandparents lived there their whole lives. I visited every summer up until my grandfather's death about 2 years ago. you're right - it's really tough there. I usually found myself just nicely asking for variations of menu items when possible, but yeah - a lot of puzzled looks. I was encouraged to see that Kroger carried all sorts of vegan items - tofu, soy/nut milks, Ener-G egg replacer. keep at it and hopefully someday it'll be more common and accepted!
i hope so, Abby. : ) the only place that has any idea what i am talking about is the Thai place downtown. : )
Hello! My husband and I nearly moved to Aurora, but ended up settling down in Columbus, IN, so we are about an hour from you. I seem to remember there was a good mexican restaurant we ate at in Lawrenceburg that had a lot of veggies, you could get black bean burritos with extra veggies and no cheese! I don't remember the name of the restaurant, though, sorry! Have you tried looking around in Cinci?
there are plenty of places in Cincy. Melt is a really good one. nummy vegan cheesesteak but we tend to be super lazy. it would be nice to have a local place. : ) i just would like to have a friend local who doesn't think i'm nuts.. besides my husband that is. when we moved here and i got my job 3 years ago i was already 1 year veggie. people at work already thought i was nuts, they really thought i was crazy when i went vegan 1 year ago. : ) and i work in a locked mental health ward! i thought that someone might try to save me a bed. : )
I just read your post and i know its been a few months but was wondering if you were successful in making any connections. I am moving to Milan soon to help take care of my mom and grandma. I am very new to the vegan lifestyle and could use local support. I am very much in the flirting phase and the family's favorite restaurant is golden corral......help!!! :)
