Yep--a vegan in 'cattle country'--where some folks consider eating any meat other than beef eating vegetarian. (Actually, two vegans--my daughter went vegan over the summer.) Any other vegans in NW Oklahoma?

I am excited to see this new feature. I often times feel alone in Oklahoma! :) I am in NE Oklahoma though, not NW.

I just became vegan and I live in NW OKC. I am looking forward to trying 105 degrees, basil and sage..where else?

Hey all! I'm in Norman and returning to being vegan after being away from it for 7 years! @Rebecca- I've heard good things about a place called The Red Cup in OKC on Classen, not completely veg but definitely veg friendly. Haven't tried it yet but plan on it. 105 degrees (now called Matthew Kenney OKC) is amazing!! Pricey but I've never felt so good after stuffing myself at a restaurant! :) Who's excited about Whole Foods coming to OKC??! Opened today!!!

Tahlequah girl here! It's nice to connect to more "local" people. This area is not very veg-friendly. I am only flirting now, but hope to be able to make a stronger commitment.

So excited to know there are great veg restaurants to visit in OKC now when we visit our family there. I looked at the Matthew Kenney (previously 105 degrees) menu and noticed 'coconut bacon' which sounded interesting. So I googled it and found this recipe I'm going to try:

It looks like a winner!

Oh my god that recipe looks delicious! Please post back and let me know if it's as yummy as it sounds! Such an amazing idea.

Today I tried the bacon coconut recipe (link posted above) and it was delish!! Its just so close to the consistency of bacon bits, some extra crunchy, some less so...can't wait to make a BLT! Found the large flake unsweetened coconut at Whole Foods.
