Hello Metro Vancouver kind-lifers! My name is Jodi-lynn and I'm in New Westminster. I was raised vegetarian but I recently became vegan (with a lengthy meat sabbatical in between!). I have never felt better! I'm looking for grocery tips as well as anyone interested in an occasional potluck. I'm also going back to school in may so if anyone wants to share recipes, monthly meal planning, etc let me know! I'm looking forward to meeting all the kind-lifers here!!
hellohello! I'm living downtown, and have been in town for the last year and a half or so. I'm Australian, sincerely vegan, and always on the lookout for new people and places to eat and share with.
I was out in New West the other day (checking out the shiny new Karmavore, and had some kickass Indian for dinner!) :)
which school are you going back to? do you get into the downtowny bits often at all?
Hi Joshua! Don't you love the new Karmavore!?! They used to be 2 blocks from me, but it still is only a few minutes away, so I can't complain!
I do get into downtown every couple weeks (I can't stay away from the ocean and Granville island for too long!)
I'm going to be attending Vancouver Film school (Makeup Design for film & television).
What brings you here from Australia?
ah, just thought it'd be nice to live in Canada for a while. it's nice when the rain stops :)
you should let me know when you're in town some time and we'll grab a bite!
I love the rain! I'm in town this weekend meeting up with friends for coffee, so if your interested maybe we could meet after at the Naam or Nuba (if you like Lebanese). Let me know!
Hello!
My name is Racquelle Pilon, I live in Port Moody and we're a family of vegans. Jodi-Lynn have you ever been to Paradise Vegetarian Noodle House up on 10th Ave right by the Choices Market? Very yummy! I have not yet been to the new Karmavore, although my daughter was there the other day picking up some Daiya for us :-) and she said it's pretty awesome. I'd love to share some recipes, I've posted a couple on my profile. I a few good cookbooks and somethings I've either come up with on my own some I've adapted in to vegan from other vegetarian recipes. I have an AWESOME scrambled tofu recipe...
Hi Racquelle! Funny, I shop at that choices every week but I have yet to eat at the noodle house! It's definitely on my to-do list now (thanks for the link!). The Daiya was on sale when I was at Karmavore last week so I stocked up! I will check out your recipes (I want to fill up my freezer with meals this spring before school so I don't resort to pb sandwiches!!). Tofu scramble, yum!! Is it on here?
HA! I was looking at Paradise Noodle House's website this morning. sounds like a chance for a meetup :)
Hey everyone!
My name is Anne, and I live in Langley BC. I am not 100% vegan but am working my way there slowly. (I was for a while, but my mom insisted I stop...which I didn't want too, but she wouldn't stop nagging me to "eat some protein") I currently only eat free-range, grass fed, non-medicated chicken (only because I have too) and I have very very very little dairy at all... some yogurt here and there, but all my milk is either almond,soy..etc and I dont eat cheeses or that kind of chemical ridden stuff. ... All of this to say that I am still very much committed to the vegan lifestyle and am always looking to veganize anything I can. :)
I loved alicia's book, and love the recipes in it... I am kind of a big foodie :) So im always looking up vegan food blogs etc. Anyways, I just thought I'd post here to say hi.
If anyone is looking for a resturaunt to go too there is one in Vancouver called Gorilla Food.. not only is it all vegan, it is also all completely RAW. I have never tried it out myself but ive been dying to check it out. I have only ever dined in a RAW foods place once and it was such a cool experience.
They have a website and everything if you google it.
Bye for now :)
