Sounds great Jodi-lynn! :) Thanks!
Hi all! I'm new to these parts (Kind Life, not Vancouver!) but also a brand new vegan - and I'm the only one I know! I'd love to join you if you do meet up :)
Hi, I don't live in Vancouver but I do live in the Fraser Valley. I'm taking notes of some restaurants to try when I'm in the area. We have driven out to Karmavores a few times. I'm finding our grocery stores are stocking more and more vegan options, so we're not doing that as often.
A shoutout to two vegan food places that I have visited lately - last Saturday, went to Sweet Cherubim on Commercial and today went to Nature's Fare Market in Langley.
Sweet Cherubim had vegan food in a little restaurant beside their Health Food Store. Great food and amazing desserts. http://www.sweetcherubim.com/
Nature's Fare is a grocery store that has a bistro in it with lots of vegan choices and a great smoothie and juice menu too. http://www.naturesfare.com/bistro/
I've been on this journey since Nov 2008 and finally feel like I am building a repetoire of vegan food that I can go to and enjoy.
I went to the Dharma Kitchen last night (West Broadway, near Alma in Vancouver) and it was the best meal I've had in ages and ages. It was amazing!
Hey All,
I'd like to get together sometime soon if possible.
I just had a birthday, and my mom got me carrot cake and tried to argue with me that I could eat it. My family doesn't support me as much as I'd like them too, and they don't respect when I write on the calender on my birthday 'NO CAKE!!!!'
Thanks fellow Vancouver Vegans/Vegetarians
Sonja,
I know exactly how you feel. My family really doesn't support me much. My mom does in a sense, she will buy the groceries I need and stuff... but she still nags me to eat me. And my brothers.. well they won't stop bugging me all the time! They choose to be so ignorant and refuse to understand my point of view on food. It is so frustrating because I feel like I'm being judged constantly IN MY OWN HOME! But I remain strong willed to stand strong with the way I choose to feed my body. (:
Hey Vancouver Veg*ans (I think that's how it goes),
Veg Fest is this Sunday from noon - 5pm.
http://www.vegfestvancouver.com/
It also has an event on Facebook. Veg Fest Vancouver!
Hi everyone!
I'm relatively new to New West (moved from Vancouver) and turned vegan 5 weeks ago. I must say, living close to Donald's Market has made the switch super easy. They have sooo many vegan products.
I feel for you guys who have been having a tough time with family/friends. Sparkpeople.com has this awesome recipe calculator that spits out the nutritional value of anything you type in. So next time your mom nags you, input your fave nutritious vegan meal then show her the proof that you're getting all your nutrients!
