I dont see an actual post for this NYC topic, but I'm interested in meeting other Vegans in NYC! I live in Brooklyn and have been vegan now for a couple of months. I think it would be fun to meet some other people to discuss issues, recipes, and just for general support when we need it! If anyone else is interested please reply! Thanks,

Lauren

Hi,

I've been vegetarian for 23 years, but started a Vegan diet in the last 3 months. I would be interested in meeting other Vegans in the NYC area as well. I live in Long Island City, but work in Manhattan.

Hey everyone! I have been vegetarian for 10 years (next month is my decade anniversary actually! hoorah!), but became vegan back in June. I live in Manhattan and have tried out a few vegan restaurants, but I think it'd be great to meet up and try out some more!

I'm so excited that we got some NYC responses!

I go out to eat a lot but dont really go to "vegan" places - usually I just end up ordering vegan options. One place that I found online that I really want to try though is The Organic Grill, in the east village. Almost every dish, it looks like, can be made vegan. It has mixed reviews but the bad reviews were dated in 09 and all the ones from 2010 were really good - so maybe they had a change in management or something, but it looks good now!

Has anyone been there? What other restaurants are good?

I haven't been to Organic Grill, but would totally be up for trying it. I'm always on the look for vegan restaurants. I've been to Blossom, Candle 79, Candle Cafe, Curlys and Angelicas. I would have to say Blossom has been my fav so far, but all have been good. Curly's is great for a low key lunch or brunch. The only soft spot is it is next to one of my fav pizza spots in NYC with no vegan options :( I have also been to Braeburn on Perry St and they do a lovely veggie plate. The chef has a heartwarming story of his wife that turned veggie to get through her chemo therapy and he developed a love and art of vegetarian food. It is pricey though. Looking forward to hearing from you all :)

Hi everyone,

I stopped eating meat over a year ago, and am working on the transition to vegan. As far as good NYC restaurants, I've been to Gobo and Franchia, both vegan and both delicious. I would love to try more!

Hi guys! Looks like this discussion kind of stalled out, but I think it would be awesome to get a group together maybe once a month to try new restaurants or have a potluck. We have so many awesome vegan restaurants in NYC, we should take advantage - and it is always nice to meet new people in this huge, crazy city! Let me know if you're interested and we'll try to get something going!

I don't live in New York but I will be there for work purposes next weekend until Thursday (Sunday/Monday in NYC but Tues thru Thurs in Pearl River). The first two days I will be with a co-worker exploring the city and I'm so excited. She is not veggie at all but I would love to hear if there are some places you'd recommend we eat at! I was at least hoping to try Hungawi and Candle 79 or Candle Cafe at Alicia's suggestion...any input? I'd so appreciate it! It seems like the city has so many yummy veg options - not entirely used to that here in Sacramento, CA! ;)
