Hey ya'll!
I live on the east coast in gorgeous Charleston, SC. I know one other person here that is vegan, and she's my coworker!
I'm on James Island right now, but plan to move to Daniel Island or the Mt. Pleasant area in the next few years. My favorite grocery store is Whole Foods, but my real favorite is the CSA with Ambrose Farms.
How about you? :-)
Jennie
Hello! I too am vegan in Charleston and do not know many other vegans.
I have lived in Charleston for many years now and currently live in West Ashley. I love Whole Foods as well but I think I slightly prefer Earth Fare! Lots of great new options in the Charleston area as of late. :-)

Hi! I am a vegan and live in Charleston and don't know any one that is vegan either. I live in West Ashley and shop at Earth Fare most of the time. Its cool too know there are fellow kind lifers in Charleston!
Wow! Love that ya'll are in Charleston too!
I visit EarthFare occasionally, because I do live on James Island. However, I work on Daniel Island, and Whole Foods is on my way home. I have also found that Whole Foods has better prices on a lot of things. In case you didn't know, Whole Foods has their own store brand, called 365, and it's very reasonably priced and good quality.
May I ask a little bit more about you? -- just curious! :-)
I'm 29 years old, married to an awesome man named Robert, with 4 fur babies (3 cats and a dog). We are very new to the vegan lifestyle, in fact, we are still in what I call the "transition" phase. I love trying new recipes and learning to "cook vegan."
I look forward to getting to know ya'll better!
Jennie
Much luck in your transition phase. :-) I've been vegan for just over 3 years now (all spent in Charleston) so I definitely remember my own transition! Glad you are enjoying trying new recipes, I found that was a great part of becoming vegan...learning to cook!
I am 25 years old and I live with my own fur baby, my dog Cricket. Luckily for me my boyfriend adopted a vegan diet and lifestyle about a month after I did(and he was a huge meat eater!). It really helped to have someone else to help out and feel the same way I did! He is currently living in Portland, OR (vegan mecca!) now going to school.
I agree it is nice to know there are other Kind Lifers in Charleston! Reach out to me anytime I've learned a lot over the years trying to navigate Charleston as a vegan. :-)

Yay Charleston vegans! Nice to see more of us coming out. I love downtown and have found, especially recently, that most restaurants in Chucktown have been more than helpful and responsive to vegan requests. And more and more conventional groceries (even the pig) are carrying some specialty products.
What is everyone's fav place to eat out?
Dairy free and sucka free!!
I have been a vegan for about a year and a vegetarian for 10. I am 32. You guys are lucky my boyfriend is a major meat eater and has no plans to change! I have three fur babies, one cat and two dogs. I also have to eat gluten free which is extra challenging eating out. So if you guys are ever anywhere where you see a vegan gluten free option let me know!!! :)
Hi everyone! I'm 29 and live in Mount Pleasant. I've been vegetarian for over five years now, but am just starting the transition to vegan. Great to know that other Charleston vegans are out there! Has anyone tried Black Bean and Co. yet? I've read they have lots of vegan options, but I haven't made it there to try them out.
Hey Ya'll! I'm Ricky, up here in Georgetown and am vegan as of January 4th. I was once vegetarian for almost 3 years, so transition wasn't too hard. I'm also a runner. Just saying, "hi", as of yet don't know any other vegans here, but I'm just getting started. If you have an I-Phone, there is an app called VeganXpress that will give you vegan options for some of the chain restaurants if you ever find yourself in one. Right now, it's difficult to find anything vegan around here but for a salad and vinegrette dressing.
I am really glad that there are more vegan and Kind Lifers in Charleston than I realized. I moved here about a year ago and only know one vegan and no vegetarians. I was really surprised actually!
I have been 100% vegan for 3 solid months and vegetarian for 13 years. The transition phase wasn't too hard for me, luckily. I really enjoy cooking and am collecting quite a library of vegan cookbooks. My favorite grocer is Whole Foods. I shop at Earth Fare and Public for convience because I live on James Island. I see that a lot of you do.
Is anyone interested in having a pot luck meet and greet night? Maybe we could meet at a park or even go to a restaurant.
