Hi, Becky! I'm not in Evanston, but I'm originally from Wyoming - my Dad still lives in Lander and I lived in Fort Bridger for awhile - very close to you! I live in New Jersey now, but if I still lived out there we would definitely get together! I feel for you - being Vegan in Wyoming isn't the easiest. I know when I visit, alot of people act like I have three heads or something when I tell them I'm vegan! Good luck!smiley-wink.gif

I was so surprised to see Wyoming posted. I'm in Cheyenne. :) Isn't is a nightmare trying to live this lifestyle in the west- I would love to find like minded people around here. It's a relief to know that there is at least one more of us in this rodeo loving state!

It is very difficult! I have a hard time eating vegan 100% of the time because things just aren't available here. I have to drive to Park City or Salt Lake City. That isn't always possible. It feels a bit strange at times. But most people I talk to about it want to know more and are for the most part are very supportive. Unless they are a hard core rancher and then they think I am nuts for not eating meat. They call it 'radical' to 'diet' without meat. I could try to explain its not a diet, but haha who needs to go there. Pick your battles wisely :)))

I agree, I feel like I am always picking battles. I'm glad you are getting a positive response and get the opportunity to share more information. It seems like I experience more eye rolls and statements trying to convince me that I am going to be malnutritioned mor than anything. I do go to Ft Collins CO a lot, they have a Whole Foods.

I'm so happy to find others in Wyoming! I was vegetarian when I moved here and couldn't handle all the judgement I recieved and gave it up. After many long years of suffering with meat and other animal products, I am ready to give them all up. I know it will be a HUGE challenge... I am in Casper so Whole Foods is a 4 hour drive for us, Trader Joes... forget about it WAY too far... My husband is a devoted meat eater, but maybe he will ease up over time. Either way, he is supportive of my eating choices. It's nice to meet you all! I hope we can help each other through the challenges and maybe we can help each other find some vegan places closer to us all...

I am in Sheridan, and just working to become vegan. Thankfully, I got marital support! However, I am finding that a lot of stuff just isn't available here. We have a few health food stores here and they carry a decent variety, but it gets pretty pricey. Thankfully Walmart and Albertsons is carrying more Organic varieties at more affordable prices, but finding other items are hard. My friends are like, "Good for you, but I'm not giving up my meat!" So, I don't have much outside support that I know of. But I had a question...has anyone ordered certain foods over the Internet? I'm sure a person could, but not sure where to start. I know there are Gluten-free grocery-like stores online that you can order from, so why not other foods? If anyone has, which websites do you use? I am a little nervous worrying about how to get a variety of food, but I am determined! I already had gestational diabetes twice, and now I am experiencing gallbladder issues. Plus, I had my thyroid removed due to cancer, and I'm not even 30! Time to change my life before I kill myself! Sorry so long...will try to keep up on here! Glad to see other Wyomingites on here! :)
