Although we're lucky in that we have Toronto so close (with it's seemingly endless options!), I find the Hamilton/Burlington area is definitely growing in the options available for people wishing to eat vegan. My favorite restaurant is Affinity in Hamilton. Is there anywhere you really like to go? I also find Goodness Me has a lot of great options grocery-wise, their prices seem to be slowly getting more realistic as well.
I'm in Hamilton and yes, while Toronto is close and amazing there's not a heck of a lot around here! Have you checked out Kind Food in Burlington near the lakeshore? It's pretty amazing and has delicious vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, soy-free baked goods. Yum! I haven't been to Affinity in a lonnnnng time but I've been meaning to go back. I really like to cook so I'm not feeling as deprived about the lack of vegan restaurants in the area, but I do like to go out and get waited on too!
I haven't had the chance to get to Kind Foods yet, I have heard good things though. Unfortunately, I also know they are quite expensive.... BTW, Affinity now has a dinner buffet! I like Big Carrot in T.O. a lot, they have a great deli and you can bring your own containers in for take-away. I try to hit it up every now and again if I'm in the area. If you've ever been curious about trying raw, check out Live in T.O. (I know....another Toronto place! LOL!). 'Stir it Up' in Brantford also has some great choices if you're out that way.
Affinity is probably the best place to go for food, hands down :) You might be disappointed with the other options after trying affinity. I remember trying out this one veg eatery in Toronto called King's Cafe (or something) and we were all kind of not enjoying it. You can use www.happycow.net to find a good vegan restaurant, and I think some more places have opened up in Westdale and on Locke St.
There's a shop in westdale where you can buy vegan biscotti - they only have one type of vegan biscotti though, which is disappointing. I haven't been to "The Bean Bar" but I hear it's very accommodating.
We live in the Milton/Miss area and I've been dying to go to Kind Food! It looks like such a treat.
In our area we have Zen Gardens (which is the same as King's Cafe I think in Toronto, which Aeri mentioned). Very very good stuff. (Also, Big Carrot is faabulous!)
I wish we lived closer to each other- we could have a Kind Life Meet Up! =)
Hi, everyone. I am new to being vegan/microb. I just want to know if i am eating enough. I don't get out of bed early enough,
so i really only eat twice a day. I have 1/2 c of rice, 1/2 c beans and hand full of greens for lunch. Supper is the same but i add about 1 1/2 c of mixed veg. I find that I am not hungry. Please let me know.. Thanks. And I am for the Hamilton area closer to Stoney Creek. Thanks again
Hi paige, maybe try to mix in a nice vegan cereal with soy/almond/rice milk and snack on some good vegan chocolate too.
Are you planning to make a Hamilton/Burlington meetup group?...I know there are two Toronto Meetup groups; I went to the November one; it was awesome!..we watched Peaceable Kindom and had vegan potluck :D)

Hi everyone. I'm in Brantford and a friend and I have just started a vegetarian & vegan meetup group. We're having a potluck on Monday, January 7th at 7pm. We're also hosting a screening of Vegucated on Monday, February 4th at 7pm.
We'd love for you to join us! Brantford is not really that far from Hamilton/Stoney Creek/Milton/Mississauga. :)
PS. The food and service at Kind Food in Burlington is fantastic!!
