Hello,

My husband and I are in the process of trying to get pregnant and I've been prescribed a pre-natal vitamin but upon closer inspection the other ingredients included are hydrogenated vegetable oil, FD&C blue No. 1, etc. These ingredients bother me and I'm not sure if they are all that healthy. I read the pregnancy blog that mentioned DEVA Vegan Prenatal and I was wondering if any of you out there have tried that brand and what your opinions are? Thanks!!

Or have any of you tried Rainbow LIght Prenatal vitamins? I'm also open for suggestions concerning a DHA/EPA supplement!

Hi, your post is old but I thought I would put in my 2 cents... I am also getting ready to try to get pregnant and my Dr. changed my prenatal to Rainbow light after I told her my concerns. I now take the Prenatal One, I tried a different prenatal this company makes and it made me feel sick and you had to take like 6 pills a day! Yuck! Not sure about the DHA/EPA supplement but I will be meeting a Dolma soon and that is one of my questions I have for her. Hope all is going well for you on your journey!♥

Oh definately toss out your synthetic prenatals and start taking one that's made from only whole food sources. There are Baby and Me prenatals from the Megafood company...others, like Rainbow light (as mentioned) - even Whole Foods has non-synthetic prenatals.

Your concerns over the chemical dyes, etc contained in regular vitamins are well placed. But also, synthetic versions of vitamins isolate a part of each vitamin that is easy and cheap to obtain. Unfortunately, the vitamins and minerals that we need are - like us - designed to function as a whole (rather than as a single part).

Thanks for the feedback. I"ve been doing some research and Rainbow Light was on the list for vitamins that contain lead :/ I will check the other ones you have mentioned. Good luck!

Would you mind sharing the websites you found the info for the DEVA vitamins and the list of vitamins with lead? Just started taking Rainbow Light but will switch to another one if it has lead. I also have trouble swallowing pills and they are huge! I'm hoping to find something chewable or in liquid form.

I highly recommend New Chapter Prental vitamins you take 3 pills a day, and New Chapter Whole megas for pregnancy.

I currently take them and am feeling energetic and great! I also take these with a flax seed oil added to my steel cut oats to ensure Im getting all my vitamins
