hey Jeanne!

i am soo excited to see someone here from Baltimore. I got the Kind Diet for Christmas and could not out it down. I get migraines and have some mild eczema which have both seemed to have gotten worse over the years. i am having a difficult time transitioning into the vegan lifestyle as my boyfriend is not going the vegan route with me. i was hoping you had some suggestions of how to ease the transition. i have already cut out cow's milk...i tried a lot before finding what works best for me...rice milk. i am not a big meat eater and have toyed around with the vegetarian lifestyle.

i would love to hear your experiences and if you are a novice like me, possibly help each other through the transition.

i look forward to hearing from you.

Hello from bmore. So I ate at a restaurant call "The land of kush" located on Eutaw st. the food was soooo good, you wouldnt believe it was vegan. Just want to put it out there. Looking for some vegan friends to chat, eat, and exchange experiences :-).

I'm also from Baltimore, near Hampden! There are quite a few places that serve vegan and vegetarian options. If you know where the Avenue in Hampden is, that is a great place to start.

I was just in Hampton this past Saturday and found a neat restaurant on the corner. Will definitely be going back. (Wish I could remember the name)

In Timonium there is a cool store called The Natural. Good sandwiches and smoothies. They have an annex in Monkton next to the Hike and Bike trail.

I have been hitting some of the Mexican restaurants also because you can many meatless dishes but they still serve regular cheese.

Hi all!

I'm also in Baltimore. I just moved here from NYC. Thanks for the restaurant suggestions! I also just finished reading The Vegan Monologues by Ben Shaberman and he suggested Mr. Chow's. I can't wait to go!

Welcome to b-more, I am also from NYC. Since I am an avid reader I will have to check out the Vegan Monologues. Where is Mr. Chow located?

Thanks! It's actually Mr. Chan's, I mixed up the name with a NYC restaurant, sorry about that! Here's the info:

Mr. Chan's
1000 Reisterstown Rd.
Pikesville, Md.
410-484-1100

The book was a mix of both vegan and non-vegan stories and info. My favorite part about it was definitely the recommendations on where to eat in the area. I'm also in the middle of Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer. Really good so far.

Hey everyone - I got an email yesterday from the Baltimore Vegan Meetup Group and they are meeting up at Mr. Chan's tonight. I signed up for this group about a month ago, but haven't actually been to any of the meet ups. I'm sure they would be happy to have any new members!
