I started flirting with this about 10 months ago. My biggest struggle is trying to implement this new life with my family. I have not managed to find the right balance between cooking for me and cooking meals that both my husband and 15 year old daughter will enjoy. I also struggle with shopping for the foods I need. The closest Whole Foods to me is about an hours drive. My family loves to shop there and everyone gets involved but trying to find the things I need in between those trips is not an easy task. Also finding recipes that they will enjoy as well seems to be a struggle. If anyone has ideas that will help I would apprecieate the help.

I would say focus on simple foods like veggie soups, stews, and chilis. I would keep away from faux meats as a lot of people are still wary of them. A lot of my diet focuses on recipes from John McDougall's cookbooks. You can find recipes online too from his newsletters. They are simple to make and use things that are easy to find in any grocery store. You can cook most of them in large batches and freeze for later use. They don't use salt, so you might need to add a little at the end or spice it up a bit. But they are really good recipes and nothing that would scare your family!

If you do get one of his cookbooks, my favorite is the Quick and Easy cookbook. Just saying . . . :o)
