Hey Kindlifers...I'm in Nashville and am still a flirt. Are there any other Nashvillians out there?
Hi Amy! I have lived in Nashville my whole life...I am about to move to Memphis but plan on returning as soon as possible. I really love it and it is expanding its boundaries into the vegetarian/vegan world. I know lots of great restaurants in the Belmont/downtown area if you need ideas! Good Luck!
Hey Amy & Virginia! I live in Memphis but I am originally from Nashville. I didn't think there was anyone else on here in our vicinity! I have been working on being a vegan since March. I did pretty good the first 4 months but I have slipped back a bit, but I'm always vegetarian no matter what. I gave up meat cold turkery, no pun inteneded :), and never looked back. I think it's hard for us in the south, the idea of not eating meat is so foreign to most people around here. Virginia I would love to meet up with you for lunch sometime when you move to Memphis! And I travel to nashville still alot because my family is still there, Amy I would love to meet up with you sometime as well! It's hard to find people striving to live this lifestyle so I would love to connect with you guys!
I'm in Corinth, Mississippi. There aren't even any threads on the Mississippi forum! So, I thought I'd say 'hello' here. I'm vegetarian dabbling in veganism. Would love to connect with some of you!

Hi there! I'm from Columbia, about 45 miles south of Nashville! I am a vegan and hope to move to superhero in then next few months!
I live in Knoxville, but I am in Nashville a LOT because my best friend lives there.
Virginia-I would love some recommendations for places to eat! I have been to Wild Cow a couple of times and I love it!
Hey hey.. I'm over here in Clarksville.. : )
I'm in Lebanon...only 20 minutes away from Nashville "proper". I agree about it sometimes being difficult here in the South avoiding meat (gotta watch those Mom n Pop places that love putting bacon grease in the veggies)
Hi, I haven't seen this thread in a while! Some great places in my opinion to eat vegetarian or vegan or definitely The Wild Cow, Fido- a really cute coffee snacky kind of place in Hillsboro village, I know they have a tofu scramble, Fiddle Cakes is a cute bakery on 8th avenue- they have vegan baked goods and also have a lot of gluten free options, The Mellow Mushroom pizza place has vegan cheese, Calypso Cafe is always easy, Margot's- a little more expensive but I had the BEST vegan couscous there a few weeks ago (its not geared toward vegans but usually has a good option offered), Burger Up- a small, gourmet burger joint on 8th avenue, it is always packed! They have a burger called the Marathon burger that I get that is very good, they also put truffle oil on their fries! and they always have some type of really great sorbet for dessert. I believe most of their food is from local farmers and I believe that their meats are organic, free range, grass-fed (definitely not anywhere close to ideal but I guess better than nothing).
Flyte is another good option and I have also been to a really great Indian Restaurant in the Cool Springs area- cant remember the name (you can google it). There is an awesome new little place in Hillsboro village called Hot and Cold. Its an interesting story- there is a man in Nashville that owns several popular coffee shops and there is a woman that owns a place called Las Paletas (which are mexican popsicles that are all house made. They have the most unique flavor combos which is fun for a foodie like me. It was also featured on the Food Network).
To be continued
Anyway they got married and they started this awesome little place that is called Hot and Cold so they serve the gourmet coffees and her paletas! Pretty cute idea. They also serve Jeni's Splendid Ice cream, which is to die for. She makes two AWESOME sorbets...Reisling and Poached Pear and Cherry Lambic sorbet. I dont even like ice cream and I just love these! She has a website, my summer project has been to veganize her normal flavors. I got pretty close to her Bangkok Peanut using banana soft serve! I also think they have soy milk for their coffees.
Can't forget Taco Mamacita's!! They have an entire vegan menu. So exciting and so good. They also fresh squeeze all the juices for their drinks. Another fun mexican place is Local Taco located on Murphy Road. They have a vegetarian platter that I get without cheese and the cream sauce, I just sub regular salsa and its so good! They also offer vegetarian refried beans and black beans, rice and they have the best margarita I have had hands down.
Plus you can always hit up the hot bar at Whole Foods!
If you are ever north of Nashville, in the Hendersonville area, there is a Mediterranean place that is awesome. It is called Cafe Rakka. They have cucumber water and lots of vegan options and lots of HUMMUS!
Okay MEMPHIS people- where are good places to go out there? I am so sad to leave Nashville! I am moving July 28th! I love Mexican, Asian, Indian and juice/smoothie places! Thanks for any input! Brooke- I would love to get together, that would be so awesome.
