As Ashley said Planet Organic is great. It's on Lakeshore just east of Hurontario. There's the Whole Foods in Oakville, and if you find yourself downtown check out Panacea on Bloor just west of Bathurst. Panacea is an amazing all vegan store, no checking labels, and there's always goodies at the checkout if you're craving a cupcake or cookie!

Haven't been to Raw Aura yet, but have been dying to check it out. Fresh is great, go for brunch on the weekends! Amazing!

I'm in Hamilton but head to Toronto fairly often. Check out the restarant 'Live' for raw/vegan and don't forget 'Big Carrot' on Danfoth. It's a market with a great veg deli inside and they also have a juice bar at the end of the Commons ('Carrot Commons') on the corner beside Danforth.

Hi fellow Kind Lifers - I will be in Toronto next month and have one free week day to take my sister to lunch. I don't know Toronto at all but we will be visiting the Art Gallery. Any suggestions for a sweet vegan restaurant that is near that location? I have looked at your thread that has lots of recommendations but before I start googling, I thought I would ask....

Thanks!

Vicky-- I don't live downtown so I may not be the best person to answer your question, but I know that both Fresh and Fressen restaurants are a 15 minute walk from the AGO (Google maps can give you walking routes if need be)

So my sister (who is not vegan) and I went to Hibiscus cafe in Kensington Market downtown Toronto. It was excellent! We had butternut squash/beet soup with a raw cracker, pear/pecan buckwheat crepe and their own homeade ice-cream for dessert. It was all 100% vegan. We sat in a cute window seat. It was awesome food - I give it a 10 out of 10. Now - keep in mind that there are no vegan cafes where I am from so I am still awestruck!

That sounds great! I hope more vegan restaurants will open in smaller cities.

I'm going to Toronto for a fewdays next week and I'd love to try out a vegan restaurant. Any suggestions from the locals? Or anyone else :)

The only place I've been to here is Annapurna - it's the oldest vegetarian restaurant in Toronto. It's Indian. Super yum. Vegan options are well labelled (I believe). It's on Bathurst just south of Dupont.

Thanks Terra, I'll have to try that one out!
