Interior West Coasters where are you?? :P I'm excited about starting this and making the transition but it's hard when I don't know anyone around me that shares the lifestyle.
If there's anyone out there even remotely close that would be amazing to keep in touch with and talk to. My boyfriend said he would help me as much as possible but he's addicted to milk :P I would love to hear some encouraging words from people and their difficulties when first starting.
Hi Ashlee!
I live in Kelowna too! I am going to UBCO right now. None of my friends share this lifestyle either, but my roommate is extremely supportive and enjoys experimenting with different foods with me. I've had a gradual transition to a vegan diet since last spring. I'm not always 100% on but its all about the journey right?
Yayy!! I'm so happy to find someone else! I mean I just started looking but I'd love some help. I was introduced to another veg on halloween and I think I'm going to meet up with her for lunch or something. My boyfriend and a bunch of other friends go to UBCO and I love how this town isn't THAT big.
I think I'll just have to start introducing more foods into my diet as time goes along. I just hate thinking about spendind money and you totally understnad the low funds situation I'm sure! :P
Do you know of any good restaurants in town?
YAY KELOWNA!!
Let me know if any of you want some baking...

Have a kind day!!
Hey Kristine!! Sorry .. when I first posted on here I didn't notice the "subscribe to" box at the bottom so I didn't see these posts. But now that i'm on here every day I can see them :D I've definitely figured a lot more out. My boyfriend just recently went vegetarian and he's s happy. I love hearing him talk about my cooking and say how less gross he feels after a meal.
I bought a bunch of cookbooks to help me out with ideas. I just made mac and cheese last night from the Veganomicon cookbook using nutritional yeast. It was amazing. I've been vegan for about 2 months now and I couldn't be happier. It's a completely different grocery buying cycle though and it's taking some gettnig used to. When i ate mostly non kind foods i could go shopping almost once a month or less. Now I find i'm at the grocery store almost every week. I still need to be eating more veggies. I love my starches and carbs. Rice, potatoes, breads.. I'm getting used to it. I love cooking!!!
Hope you all are doing great! We should all get togeher for coffee or tea or something :P
Ashlee,
Oops! I think I just sent you about 10 messages! Sorry! None of them looked like they were going through so I kept closing them and trying again! Sorry for the barrage! :0
YAY Kind Lifers!!!! Can't wait to meet you all!
Hey, I live in Kelowna as well! I am so looking forward to meeting some more vegans around town, as most of my friends' are meat eaters. I would love to exchange recipes. Cheers!
hello everyone!
I've been vegan for 3 years now, best decision of my life :) I started a Farmer's Market stall at the Kelowna Farmers Market last Saturday. I'd love to see you all there :)
Hey Everyone!
I am a 'flirting' vegan and I would love to make the big switch and take the plunge! Anyone know of any amazing restaurants around Kelowna for vegans? Also, I am looking for a really good low sodium miso soup recipe. Let me know if you can help!
Ciao
Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself and let you all know of some vegan resources in Kelowna. I've been vegan for 14 years (since I was 16) and would NEVER go back. I'm so happy to see so many more people adopt this lifestyle and I really hope you stick to it :)
Lake Tai, a FULLY VEGAN Taiwanese restaurant just reopened today in their new location at 1958 Kirschner Road in Kelowna.
Poppadoms Indian restaurant located at 948 McCurdy Road has a separate vegan menu if requested.
Fresh Cafe located at 269 Bernard Ave has vegan alternatives for all their wraps like Gardein and Daiya cheese.
Nature's Fare (next to Save-On-Foods) has a deli with many vegan soups that rotate throughout the week, as well as an awesome vegan mung bean curry on Tuesdays and vegan curry on Thursdays served over brown rice.
Summerhill Winery located at 4870 Chute Lake Rd always makes us awesome vegan meals - just phone and let them know in advance. Also, Raudz located at 1560 Water Street makes an amazing vegan dinner and there is no need to ask in them in advance - just let your server know.
