I have been vegan now for about 20 days and I have to say I have not strayed more that a bite ir two of cheese. Not only have I not lost any weight, but I feel gassy and bloated. Do you think I am still detoxing? I have been a vegetarian for several years. I'm not going back to eating dairy, I feel it's more important not too. But I would like to feel better. Any comments or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jami

I thought about it and it occured to me that you may have added something to your diet that you either have a sensitivity to or are allergic to. What have you added or increased your consumption of? (I realize this is a grammatical nightmare. But it's not for work or school )

I am so glad you figured it out. I never would have suspected Vega but everybody is different and different things affect different people different ways. I personally use Amazing Grass GREEN Superfood in chocolate and mix it with Living Harvest tempt hemp protein in Vanilla Spice ( only 2 scoops) and I am very happy with it. It might work for you.

Dawn, don't worry about the protein issue right now. It takes a long time to become deficient. Figure the rest out first, then work on protein if you feel the need. Congratulations on a great start!!!

Jami -- detoxing from dairy can take a very long time. It was at least 6 weeks before it was out of my system. I had so much bloating and phlegm. While detoxing, if you don't drink enough water (a lot) the process takes longer and the bloating gets worse. A probiotic can help with digestion. A good vegan one is Garden of Life Primal Defense. I take one every day. Once dairy is out of your life you will have so much more energy!

Cheryl...I do think some of it is still detox. I will get a probiotic. I am so happy to have such great advice. Everyone is so supportive. I am the only vegan that I know, so sometimes it can get overwhelming, but I WILL DO IT. Thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions. I look forward to crusing this site daily. :)
