vegan 'leather'?!

so my friend makes these beautiful handmade leather bags, but thats just the thing they are leather. i mentioned to her the idea of making vegan ones and she is SO on board, she is just not sure as to where to purchase said vegan 'leather'. wondering if anyone knows. i know she needs to find something that keeps up with the same thickness and something that is accessible in canada (pref ontario). please let me know. you da you da best!
