Does anyone else not like the idea of fake meats?!

I've been to a few vegan restaurants that serve fake meat, and it just seems weird. I know that they definitely aren't real, but I think that in being vegan we are avoiding animal consumption and by simulating eating them it almost seems disrespectful. I understand that for some people they are great because they just couldn't do it without having those to take the place of meat. I'm not trying to be judgemental, of say you shouldn't use them... I have actually considered using them for the protein etc. I'm just wondering others opinions on this?

Hi Sophia, As a transition tool I definitely think they have their place and for some people it's the only way they'll stay off meat. I ate a few of them as it was transitioning to vegetarian but now they mostly gross me out. The only one that I do do is the burgers. It's the only thing that I haven't completly gotten over yet, every once in a while I just need a good burger and the soy ones seem to do the trick.

If you're making the change for compassionate purposes then yes I agree with you that it does seem funny, but so many people are making the change because of health reasons these days that I think for them (at least at first) it doesn't matter.

I also wanted to say that if you don't want to eat them there are many other better sources of protein that you shouldn't have to resort to those.
