Lentils + Quinoa = a bad idea?

Hi there,

I'm still quite new to the superhero thing. Last night I made a red lentil dahl (suggested by someone on this site, I think), but instead of serving it with brown rice, I made TKD's Quinoa, Basil and Pinenuts. Also made the Plum soup for dessert.

I feel fairly wretched and bloated this morning. I'm thinking there may have been too much grain and not enough vegie? I was trying to use up ingredients in my fridge (and there weren't a whole lot of greens in there yesterday)

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there such a thing as too many grains??

Would love to hear any advice.

Cheers

it seems like a whole lot of fiber for one meal. that can cause bloating.

oaksi-

Did you read the part in Alicia's, "Kind Diet" on "Beans and Fartiness"? If not, do! It is great and very helpful. There is a special process such as soaking beans, cooking them with kombu and spooning out the foam when they cook so that you don't end up with bad gas. I also suggest beano, which is a natural anti-gas pill that you eat a few minutes before your first bite of food.

From what I understand beans and grains are suggested for complete protein, so I don't think you made a mistake in your servings.

Hope this helps!
