I had "the kind diet" on my nightstand for a few months with the intention of reading it....I got too busy and it ended up in a bookcase in my office over a year ago. Well in the process of cleaning out (apropriate) my office I came across the book and decided to stop stalling! I'm only about 1/4 through it and I think I'm sold! I have been having chronic stomach issues for 2 years now. I have been to specialists and put myself through all sorts of tests and still don't have an answer......after reading some of this book I have hope that maybe someday soon I will feel great again. I hope I am able to at least "flirt" with this lifestyle and potentially go full throttle. I'd love to hear any helpful hints from anyone who has made the transition recently. Thanks for everything :)
Congrats, Jessica and Welcome! It is a wonderful book and you will love it even more as you continue to read. =) I really do think it will help with your stomach issues! It certainly did mine. I had chronic IBS for years and haven't had a single episode after switching to a plant-based (vegan) diet. That is news I am happy to report. I hope it does the same for you.
Since you are in the flirting and learning stages right now you may be interested in following the study I am conducting. (I should probably mention I am a physician who advocates a plant-based diet) I am conducting a study on the health benefits of a plant-based diet. Our study started 14 days ago and will last for a total of 60 days. We took 7 people who previously ate either a SAD diet (Standard American Diet) or a vegetarian diet and asked them to switch to a plant-based (vegan) diet and document their experience online. They are doing so on my site. Also, there is all of their blood work, labs, etc that we had done prior to them transitioning to a vegan diet. We will do the same tests at our mid point in approximately 2 weeks and at the end and compare the results. These will also be published online for transparency purposes.
Anyways, my point is that you can see what it was like for them when they first started out, etc as they each have a page and are keeping an online diary. :)
I wish you the best of luck! Kindest Regards, Jenna (www.theplantrx.com)
