Hey Everyone,
I really want to be superhero ... I have tried and only successfully gotten threw 2 days in the past few weeks. I find it hard to come up with breakfast ideas ... I really only like eating breakfasty things .. I always end up eating oatmeal ... All the cereals or breads I can find have cane sugar in them so I can't have those on superhero days. Other then that I sometimes have fruit salads .. but thats not so superhero. I need some good breakfasty breakfast recipes !! Any ideas?? Thanks so much id really love to be superhero but finding it hard in a family of meat eaters who get annoyed by my eating!
I have not tried superhero but I have heard others say that they have a big salad for breakfast.
If you want 'breakfasty' type stuff, that definitely makes it more difficult. Instead of oatmeal, have you tried Alicia's rice porridge (or try different grains in place of oatmeal - you can eat similar things with them)? The polenta, millet, and corn cereal recipe is really good. She also mentions the steamed sourdough with tahini and jam, which is super good, but you wouldn't want to eat that all the time. TKD scrambled tofu recipe is also good, you could cut it in half and eat it over a couple of days. Maybe you could work up to more 'dinner' type meals - like try having rice in a small bowl of miso. Once you get used to that, add some greens or wakame or arame. You might be surprised at how good it can feel when you have something more like a 'regular' meal for breakfast. But some people have a hard time. I could eat steamed veggies all day, but my boyfriend cannot switch from 'breakfast' foods, though he's tried.
thanks for the suggestions, I have been trying to come up with some more dinner typed meals that still have some of the breakfasty feel. I'm going to try and ease into it. But for today I just stuck to oatmeal :P
I used to LOVE barley porridge, but I have gluten sensitivities and I had it too many times and got an allergic reaction.Sometimes I make fresh juices,or oatmeal, sometimes whole grain frozen waffles. It really varies.I need something sweet like fruit first thing in the morning, so I can't be a total superhero. Living in the tropics,it feels almost criminal not have fresh papaya, banana, or strawberries at once!
I love fresh fruit too, which I have a lot. But I still eat it, I figure yes it's high in sugar, but I don't eat a lot of other sugary things and fruit isn't processed and doesn't have any added sugar so it's natural. I don't eat it too much but will have it for snacks and desserts probably at least once or twice a day! I'm not totally superhero either, but I've made up my own for me to follow. I'm doing the best I can!! Good luck with trying to be superhero!
sweet potato or pumpkin are vegetables you could add to quinoa or other grain that are sweeter/more breakfasty
I think that quinoa and millet are the best breakfastey breakfast cereals, chopp up afew peices of dried fruit and wiz em together for a sweet topping, or carmalized veggies, there sweet! I promise! best wishes!
I've been making quinoa first thing in the morning.I put dried figs, one date, raisins, sometimes some sesame oil, blueberries, goji berries. It's so good!I've noticed I'm more alert, too, because of the high protein content.
I've trained myself to not eat in the mornings. So usually I'm not hungry for the first few hours of the day. There for my first meal is usually some fruit mid morning/early afternoon. Is this a bad habbit? Should I work on changing this? And does anyone have any tips?
