Hey - I was wanting to test out going Superhero for 3 weeks. I'm already about 95% vegan (the chocolate at my work calling my name every few weeks is my downfall!), but really wanting to go Superhero :)

I've had a bunch of health problems (chronic IBS and food intolerances resulting in lots of fatigue and weight gain... wooooo...), so I'm really hoping that this is the thing I need to kick start my recovery! The main things I can't eat that may be a problem for this are wheat, and onions & garlic, but I'm hoping to be able to figure that out.

Does anyone have any great tips or meal plans or recipes for starting my Superhero journey!?

THanks :)

I assume you have Alicia's book, The Kind Diet? As I'm sure you know, that's full of superhero recipes. I'd start there. Or at least read what she says about being superhero and eat accordingly. At first I'd stick with lots of brown rice and steamed greens. That's what I did when I first went vegan, to cleanse my body of all the stuff I'd been eating up until that point. It really jump started me well. And it's my fall-back when I've fallen off the wagon or need just a little boost to get back on a more healthy track.

Yeh I've been using lots of the vegan recipes from TKD, and eating pretty well, just wanting to take it that bit further. I've got all the basics and plan on starting out just with lots of veggies and grains to clear out my system, but I'm easily bored and will need some more variety at some point.

Does anyone know any other suggestions for recipes that would fit with the Superhero 'mould' as it were, that aren't in Alicia's book?

I don't know if they're Superhero but if you check out the recipes in the post punk kitchen, they have a gluten free section.

I am also doing a Superhero challenge. I'm going for 4 weeks though. I have a similar issue. I just started a new job and there are tons of free candy everywhere! I'm giving myself this challenge to get back on track.

I think the best advice I could give would be to PLAN AHEAD! That's what gets me through and keeps me from falling off the wagon when temptation arises, because trust me-it always arises! :)

Good luck! I hope this works out well for you.

We decided that on Tuesday (when Vacation is over) we are going Superhero for at least two weeks to clean out our bodies and kick start our weight loss.

I need to reread the section and get some meal ideas.
