Kristan Waara,

Hello, I had a few beers the other night that are vegan and v satisfactory. You may want to try them for yourself, they're Anchor Steam. I had a couple of the Summer brew (which is light) and a couple regulars (full body). They're exceptional vegan beers. You should switch without missing ;-)

At least try it and tell me what you think!...

Ok the paper issue's out of the way. I ordered Soft press 300 lb from Fabriano. No, it was cold press but I also like their soft press.

Anyway...

Now the issue is my Yarka watercolors which have carmine (hue) and ivory black. Just what in the am I supposed to do when I have a lot of color left and the only vegan watercolor pallet I can find is over $100 and I'm not even sure it's vegan by the way their emails went.

If someone wouldn't mind helping me make sense of their emails (and mine), just ask and I will copy and paste them here.

The company is http://www.naturalpigments.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=850-1014

First of all, use what you have, don't waste it. You can send me the emails in a PM or post them here.

Usually, I buy water colors loose instead of in pallets. I like tubes, not cakes.

I'm surprised to hear you don't like Yupo! I love it so much I've actually started to stockpile it in case they discontinue it. smiley-wink.gif I can't imagine ever going back to regular paper. It is a completely different feel, so it does take some getting used to. There's a good instructional video you can order from Dick Blick. If you go to their website and search for Yupo, it will come up.

But if regular watercolor papers work better for you, you will be relieved to know that not all of them use gelatin.

Rhives, Shizen, Strathmore, and Bockingmore are some examples. Check out this information compiled by a fellow vegan artist. http://veganactivist.wordpress.com/vegan-art-supplies/watercolour-paints-paper/

So glad to know about Strathmore, it is easy to find. I actually bought some on sale at a craft store after your post! Thanks jnte!
