My only vegan downfall is shoes

Hi, I consider myself doing well as far as being a vegan goes, including not using animal-tested products in my home or body, etc. My only downfall is shoes. I have a problem foot -- I ruptured my Achilles tendon in 2002 and the rebuilt tendon is three times as thick as my other one. This alone causes me major problems with shoes that have a back to them. Additionally, my pinky toe is permanently dislocated on that foot as well (don't ask). Needless to say, it sticks out further than the other pinky toe. Sorry for so much TMI!

Anyway, I know this is a long shot but does anyone know of a vegan shoe brand that is comfortable and cute? Right now I wear non-vegan clogs from Clarks and in the summer I live in non-vegan sandals.

Thanks in advance,

Kathleen

Thanks Dani, I've never heard of Toms -- do they have a website or just brick and mortar stores?

thanks again!

Kathleen

ps. I realize I sounded kind of snotty in my subject line and I apologize. It was rather pretentious of me. :{

www.tomsshoes.com

For every pair of shoes you buy, they donate a pair to a child in need...it's a really great place for comfy vegan shoes....not all of them are vegan though, but you can filter your search for their vegan ones.

Great suggestion Dani, toms are awesome! Both my Husband and I wear them. I have fallen arches and I couldn't believe how comfortable they were - they have good insoles, which is great for my feet. Hope you find the right vegan shoes Kathleen - and I didn't think you sounded snotty at all:)

Hi Kathleen, My wife and I both shop at a store called Alternative Outfitters which I would highly recommend. They are an all vegan store and online shop. Neither of us have foot problems however we both want shoes that are as comfortable as they are stylish. A great women's brand they offer is Jambu/J-41. My wife has a few pairs of these and while they are on the higher end of the price range for this store she swears they are the most comfortable of all her vegan shoes. We live close enough to visit their Pasadena, Ca store but they also have a great website where you can purchase everything. You can go to www.AlternativeOutfitters.com to check them out. We both wish you luck!

Crocs are vegan too. They have much cuter styles for casual summer wear than they used to. Very comfy.

Okabashi's are good too - for a Croc's type clog or sandal - cheap, vegan, and recyclable! I am also really loving some vegan J-41's I got this spring - they are pricey, but get a LOT of wear, so worth it, I think!
