Ive been on a vegan diet for a little over a month. The first week I was absolutely starving. I figure I was eating almost double what seemed normal for me before. After that first week things totally shifted the opposite direction. I am almost never hungry. I eat 3 times a day because I think I must but I really have to force myself sometimes. Has anyone else experienced decreased appetite on a vegan diet? My family is concerned and what me to see a doctor but I'm not sure there is actually a problem. I don't feel bad, actually I feel better then Ive felt in a long time.

This sounds like good news to me autumn! It's my first day of complete vegan and at work I felt heaps hungry and I ate such a huge lunch of falafel corn wrap, hummus and dairy free chocolate! And then tonight I had cous cous and veggie sausages and feeling full now but yeah, it is a different style full. I even had a few tablespoons of oil in dinner and yeah, my body just feels satisfied which is not what I used to feel when I ate non-vegan. I think I will also be like you in a few weeks so I hope so :)

I actually did end up talking to a chiro/alt med doctor because I was feeling increasing "wierdness" - He gave me a thorough look over and then he actually moved my stomach. I didnt know something like this was possible but I have been feeling/eating better this last week.

I have been vegan for about a month and am always hungry too! I am encouraged to read that this will subside. I have avoided junk food, but am eating a lot of brown rice and whole wheat and tofu pizza. A lot! But I feel very, very good. Can't wait for the appetite seesaw to balance out. I guess as my metabolism becomes more adept and efficient at extracting nutrients from this new clean way of eating, my feelings of hunger will calm down as my body "registers" that it is getting what it needs.
