Hi all! I am new to cooking The Kind Life way and I have some questions about oils to use. I recently bought safflower oil (organic, cold pressed) and when I used it for baking some of the recipes like cornbread or cookies, the smell of the batter was awful!!! And the taste made me nauseous! I smelled the oil and there is a slight smell, but should it be that bad?? sunflower oil seems taste fine, no bad smells, but is it a healthy oil to use in place of safflower?? Should I try another type of safflower oil? Just wondering since everyone seemed to rave about some recipes (like the cornbread) and I got so sick just smelling the darn thing!!! Thanks for any tips!!

Sounds like maybe you got a bottle that was rancid! I've never had safflower oil give a taste or smell to anything I've cooked with it. I'm sure you could replace the safflower oil in recipes with another - just not a strong tasting/smelling one like olive oil. I like grapeseed oil a lot lately - although it has a greenish color and can turn things green!
