I am a vegan and from what I had read I thought B12 was the only nutrient that I needed to supplement in my diet. Well, everytime I try to take it I break out in hives immediately! I take like 1/5 of the recommended does. I know that some of the foods I consume are fortified with B12 but I really do not consume them regularly. I do use almond that is fortified with it pretty often but I did not know if that was adequate.
I feel that by breaking out in hives my body is rejecting it, I know we must have B12 for all kinds of things so am I overdosing? I also know that all kinds of people get Vitamin B injections and even people that eat animal products...so why am I so sensitive?! Should I stop taking it and assume I getting enough through my diet?
